Monks the word!

We had a wonderful young Monk/Priest presiding at Mass today. He is outstanding. I learned a lot about myself and God and that is a true blessing. It is very humid; where or where is the rain? I better be carefulf what I wish for eh? We are off, that is driving, to a friend's 75th BD celebration and... Sign in to see full entry.

Thinking about the future ...and..

looking a little into the past as well. On special occasions I just think about my family, those who have completed their lives, as we all will. My heros lived closed to home, where charity begins, so said my mother. I can remember during World War II as a small child that the love between my... Sign in to see full entry.

College Football is about to happen again!

Today I received the VA Tech Football 2007 Schedule. Yea Tech. They are a good team and from time to time they get to be exceptional. Pressure is tough on the field and after all they are college students with lots of things to do and learn. Maybe this year will be the charm! As Monday Morning... Sign in to see full entry.

I can't believe I did it in one day!

Every year for about 7 years I have taken my great nieces shopping for school clothes. Well, today was the day. They are 14 and 13 years of age (14 months between them). We went to three stores. Finally we closed about 8:30 (4 and l/12 hours of shopping). We found jeans, tops, underwear and shoes,... Sign in to see full entry.

I saw two snakes at the swimming pool...

Hiss, dang, ugh, not near me please. I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep! I had taken a dip in the pool, wow, it felt great. The water was cool and the sun and breeze had calmed me down. I was enjoying the beach chair. All of a sudden the Park Nature Employee strolls into the deck area with... Sign in to see full entry.

Can you imagine living on the river banks

I just read a book about an early river man named Seay. He traveled the waterways of Virginia and was according to legend, quite a character. The bygone days certainly had the charm. The charm included hardships and adventures that we can only dream and write about. For those of us who long for... Sign in to see full entry.

Full, round and deep in color

NO I am not describing myself, but my egg plants! (Had you going for a minute didn't I?) What a wonderful weather day. The sun was out, but not too hot, and the breeze helped us stay outside until about noon. We do have a nice little garden. Today we picked vegetables for us and enough for daughter.... Are you a Martha or a Mary?

Interesting, but to better understand the question, here's a little background. (You probably know this.) Do you seek after the divine side of life or do you attend your duties here first? Well today for the first time I realized we can do both. And we probably need to do both. When we have the... Sign in to see full entry.

We found beautiful old books today

After our lovely seafood salad at a local restaurant, we walked along the quaint little shopping village to the Pewter Shop and then the Fudge Shop and finally the Old and Used Book Store. Eureka! We found good stuff. The owner was so very nice and reduced her prices on an entire section when we... Sign in to see full entry.

The Umbrella sailed across the traffic..

We had an afternoon thunder and lightening rainstorm this afternoon. It came out of the West so quickly that we were really unprepared. We dashed outside to close the umbrellas and secure the flower baskets to find the wind was there before us and had turned over both flowers and tables and... Sign in to see full entry.
