Happy Happy, Joy Joy!
It is late (2 AM here now) but I'm happy. I just spent the last four hours completing "The Touch." I've yet to add the foreword and epilogue but it came in just about 22,000 words, which is exactly where I wanted it to be. This piece of work isn't for everyone, that I promise you. It is a story of... Sign in to see full entry.

Making My Way To the Finish Line
I don't know how many of you really want to hear this stuff but as "The Touch" heads to its ending, I find myself a bit too frequently extremely emotionally moved as I finish it. This story is about 90% true so far. Now all compressed as it is, it sounds like miracle after miracle but that is why I... Sign in to see full entry.
Back To A Different Grind
As I mentioned yesterday afternoon in this blog, I finished my days as a columnist and reporter for a few papers and online sites with the last race of the year. The nice thing was I had already done my final interview with a man I had covered for years. We had both been at the same race track for... Sign in to see full entry.

Fall Begins
My last race as a 'reporter' begins in about 35 minutes. I guess I'm kind of ambivalent about this deal. I'm tired of the grind of dead lines, giving up 24 weekends of the year as I've done since 1979, and always getting emails asking for a 'real quick article about...' but then again, I know I'm... The Morning After... Again
As I mentioned here, I'm working on a straight forward very long article or very short novella sized story on suicide. The concept is based on me talking with a suicide victim wanna-be. I intend it to be as brutally frank, honest, abrupt, and uplifting as I can possibly make it. I think it has to be... Sign in to see full entry.
The Morning After...
This isn't mine. I've worked a few suicide prevention centers and I've talked for a few thousand hours with those considering it. I had a fairly decent sized section of my second paper back that dealt with it but yet, it keeps happening. I'm working on another story that deals with it. Vincent Van... Sign in to see full entry.

Those Darn Commas
Thank you for the input on my last post here. As luck would have it, I got tied up helping a new user set up their ad system for a live football game tonight just outside of Chicago. While the struggle to see the error causing him the grief was a nuisance, it helped me focus and i finally found a... Sign in to see full entry.

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow!
It's funny when you think about it. You spend weeks keeping the same pattern, the same routine, and the same resolve, writing at the same time everyday. One thing comes up and you find yourself hard pressed to get back into the routine. It has been a week since I last wrote in my stories and despite... Sign in to see full entry.

Life Is For Learning
Not the best start to a day. I wake up to find a long time friend is in the hospital in Grand Rapids with a possible stroke, a cousin I just recently spoke with has died, another friend has lost a father, and a man I barely knew has also died. I know that sounds like a strange combination of people... Sign in to see full entry.
