Later Still; The Inconvenience Continues

My own computer continues to be idle while I wait for that key part--a USB adapter--to arrive at the computer shop. The man helping me there explained that in the bustle of this time of year, the parcel service is more likely to put their orders in the back seat. Somehow, also, the order was... Buckling Under Inconvenient Time Constraint

Inconvenience has a way of compunding itself. On my previous day free, four days ago, I had set out to post my second round of blogs during this time I am awaiting a computer part. The library, though, only allots an hour. First, I started to write for my blog Some Thoughts On Scripture. It was... Sign in to see full entry.

Again I Am Perturbed By Computer Setbacks

It has been a while since I have posted. Last week, on the day before I was to return to work, I did something rather stupid. With back of the computer facing me as I tried to add lemon juice to my tea. It squirted, right unto the back of the computer. Next time I tried to go online, I received the... Broiling And Its One Drawback

Broiling, I have found, to be my favorite way to heat items in the oven. I like to broil eggplant. Today, I broiled chicken, and the smoke alarm kept going off. That is one annoying drawback, but the taste of the food makes it worth it to put up with the smoke alarm annoyance. Sign in to see full entry.

It Passed!

About three feet from the litter box I saw it--the dental floss that had been in my cat's belly. It passed! I had taken Callie to the veterinarian yesterday. It was determine she was doing well enough that surgery to remove the obstruction would not be required. I took her home and kept her under my... Sign in to see full entry.

Where Did That Piece Of Dental Floss Go? The Cat Ate It.

I will never again be so casual in the way I use and discard dental floss. The previous night I flossed my teeth and momentarily set aside the used string of floss. A few seconds later I looked back to where I had put it aside. It was gone. Callie, my white cat, had been in that specific area at... Sign in to see full entry.

A British Novel Or An American Novel About Britain?

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson was the latest novel I have read. I read it for my upcoming book chat at the bookstore. The novel was written by a native born Brit who has now lived in the United States for the past two decades. I did not read these bio-particulars until I finished... Sign in to see full entry.

I Don't Like It Backwards

Today I had to wear my baseball backwards, because I was wearing a face guard part of the time. That should be the only reason for wearing a baseball cap backwards. One with a baseball on backwards looks stupid and lazy. The same with sitting in a chair backwards. The Fonz was not cool when he did... Sign in to see full entry.

Comparing Two Bumper Slogans

Yesterday I saw a car license plate frame that stated: "School meals feed our future." Then I saw a bumper sticker that stated: "My child was honor student of the year." Good food and nutrition, I agree, can help a child to grow and develop more positively, both physically and mentally. Implicit,... Sign in to see full entry.

Enforcement Of Existing Laws, Not Piles Of New Laws

Many politicians are lawyers, and, as such, they are fond of adding more and more laws. This is a dead, empty exercise that gets us no where. On the news, I heard about victims of drowsy truck drivers pushing for more laws, laws that would specifically regulate how long a truck driver would be... Sign in to see full entry.
