Stoop, pick up, stand up, bang! I banged my head, but my neck was affected the most. At work, I was cleaning up by retrieving stray packaging, some of which was directly below a shelf/table platform. I did not think about the hazard of standing up right there. As a consequence, my neck was wrenched.... Sign in to see full entry.

Time To Turn The Thermostat Up?
The nights are becoming colder, as it is now Autumn. So how do people react? Some crank up the thermostat, particularly older people with poor circulation. They have the thermostat at least at 72 degrees if not up toward 80 degrees. But I don't need it that hot. I put my thermostat up to about 65... Sign in to see full entry.

The Man (Or Woman) Behind The Curtain
The wizard struck awe in the inhabitants of Oz, but it was revealed by happenstance that the "wizardry" was directed by the manipulation by a man behind the curtain with buttons on a machine. I thought of our palletizing robot operator in the same way today, as he was gone away sick. I referred to... Sign in to see full entry.

Is It Worthwhile To Be A "Starving Artist"?
In cultural history, there are any number of artists who only come to be renowned posthumously. I refer not only to artists on canvas or stone but authors and anyone in the fine arts as well. There is value, I would have to say, to what they left us even if they never realized the fruits from their... Sign in to see full entry.
Private Charity, Not Government, Shows A Community's Caring
Food and dollars for foods was again raised in massive quantities in my local community once again. Yesterday marked the last day of the weeklong food drive event. And once again, the pounds raised amounted to about 300,000, to go to fourteen food banks or pantries serving a county of about 200,000... Sign in to see full entry.

Made In. . . (twists)
"Made in China" runs all too common these days. I have seen it on hand-sized American flags and on knick-knacks sold in a Christian Bible/Bookstore. These are ironic instances given that China is our world political rival, and that China severely suppresses Christianity. In an expensive boutique, I... Sign in to see full entry.

The Oprah World Series
The World Series came up as a topic during a break at work. One lady said she was tired of the same teams always going there. She suggested that the teams that have been there a certain number of times should be eliminated from the contention for the World Series. To be sure, that would eliminate... Taking It To The Apple Core
Many people, perhaps the majority, eat an apple in a way that does not appeal to me. They bite into the apple sphere and rotate it around until in the end they leave an unsightly core. What I do instead is to quarter the apple with a knife, and then from each quarter, I trim out the core. And then I... Sign in to see full entry.

My Car Is Not The City Dump
At the end of the previous work cycle I was perturbed--perturbed that my carpool rider had so little respect and regard for me to discard his empty drink cans in my car. I maybe have cleared out as many as half a dozen drink containers from my car left there by him. I took action to send my rider a... Sign in to see full entry.
More The Case These Days: The Hot Teams Are The Best Teams
Football analysts this weekend served up the question: What team is the best? Is it the most consistent one, or the hottest one? In spite of a lone loss against the Minnesota Vikings, the San Francisco Forty-Niners looked to be one of the preeminent teams in the National Football League. Then they... Sign in to see full entry.
