Still Not Adjusted To The Time Change

Two weeks out, I am still not adjusting to the time change. I become so tired at night an hour or two before I think I should. Sometimes I am yawning by 8 o'clock in the evening. And then in the morning, I am awaking an hour or two earlier as well. Some people relished the idea of "falling back" so... Sign in to see full entry.

The Question Of Syrup

On my first pancake this morning, I poured agave because I had run out of syrup. The pancake, as a result, did not quite taste right. Too sweet. I reasoned that that is why there is syrup. But isn't syrup also sweet? I do not know how to explain it. Syrup is more or less liquid sugar, so what makes... Sign in to see full entry.

Prepared, Yet Not Prepared

To see bare roads--of both snow and traffic--was a humbling, telling sign as I drove up to the ski resort for what I thought would be a day of alpine skiing. Then I saw the sign: CLOSED. But I kept going. For one thing, it is not unusual for the ski area to be a launching site for back country... Sign in to see full entry.

Blue Jeans--A New Low

"Blue jeans, at a new low" was my first thought upon see a photo of a new foot fashion fad. DanikShoes has come out with blue jean sandals. Blue jeans are already being worn too low; they do not need to be worn all the way low! Sign in to see full entry.

I Am Fortunate I Have A Job

In this tough economy, there are people, many people who do not have a job--including my brother. It has almost been a full year since he has been out of work, and yet he is a person with good skills--electrical engineering. I hope and pray he finds a job soon, in spite of the depressed job climate... Sign in to see full entry.

The Sun Still Comes Up; The Seagulls Still Doing Their Thing

Election night was disappointing and discouraging, not only for myself but to many others. On that night, a lady from my church chatted with me on Facebook, looking for comfort. I told her the sun would still come up in the morning and that the Lord would be there. That comforted her. In the morning... Sign in to see full entry.

Thoughts On The Election Results

The American people have spoken.... and reelected someone who should not have been afforded more than one Presidential term, if that. But we have to face it. That's who we are. We are so dense, so dense we cannot recognize the disastrous consequences of having had four years of our current... Sign in to see full entry.

Liberals' Thoughts On Conservatives Still Amaze Me

Liberals are to be found aplenty at book discussion groups. That was where I was last night, I being a conservative minority no doubt. We were discussing a book pertaining to Nazi Germany. We did not get out of the meeting without the liberal attendees inferring that Mit Romney and the conservatives... Sign in to see full entry.

Something Trivial Has To Give

Trivia I heard a week or two ago seemed to indicate that Barack Obama would win re-election. The trivia related to the popularity of political Halloween masks. The claim is that whatever Presidential candidate Halloween mask is the most popular, that particular Presidential candidate will win. As... Sign in to see full entry.

What Was Most Important Was Registering For Next Year

An annual Scandinavian Festival is an event I make a point to attend most every year, but this year I had something extra in mind besides purchasing the norsk food and gifts for Christmas. I had wanted to use the occasion to be a vendor myself, that is, to sell my book, The Red Meadows, a... Sign in to see full entry.
