NOT ALONE

I sat down to catch my wind, then lost it. At my feet a bearprint was filling up with water. NOTE - I borrowed this chilling situation from William Faulkner's The Bear, which is the best short novel I've ever read, hands down. It's also the only one of his that I ever read and understood.
