I 'm 75 and licked pancreatic cancer last year - now I'm in better shape than ever (I really love how that makes me sound like some kind of buzz-cut macho fitness freak! - I'm really not). Next week I start volunteer work with young cancer patients in NYC - I've been very lucky and feel I owe somebody something.
I live near Harriman Park and love to hike there, listening to CDs - music, Teaching Company lectures, potboilers. I get a kick out of acting locally. Roles I've loved especially - the lush in Anything Goes, homicidal old security guard in Season's Greetings, dimwit hunter,IRA hitman, uptight Boston Brahmin. Erno Rubik, rainmaker. I enjoyed teaching middle school and high school for 35 years. I like movies (Lawrence of Arabia, and now Avatar), Cannonball Adderley, AE Housman. Patrick O'Bryan's sea novels, Jane Austen. William Faulkner's The Bear,
What else ...writing poetry is a pretty recent passion. I'd love to play guitar and chess better. Young women who don't seem to know they're pretty make an unduly deep impression on me. I wish I were (a lot) more at home with computers, and I'm gearing up to spoil our wonderful son's wonderful infant son and take him fishing.
