A heroine and a boat trip
It was public trnasport again today and I went by bus back to La Coruña. In the first place to buy my ticket to Barcelona and also to fill in the gaps so to speak which were still there from my first stay about a week ago. Happily, the weather is finally good and I happened upon a boat trip around...

Finally met the publisher
You may remember, that this entire Galicia trip is because a London based publisher has expressed an interest in a travel book about Galicia. Today, I finally met the men in person here in Pontedeume and that came about because his girlfriend who is a well known interior designer has bought a finca¡...

A strange blot in the sky
When I woke up this morning and looked out of the window, I saw a strange, yellowish rather big spot in the sky. At closer inspection, it turned out to be the sun!!!! After so much black clouds, rain and cold, I had totally forgotten what she looks like, bravely struggling to get the upper hand over...

A romantic place
For 2 days, after leaving La Coruña, I have been stuck in the 'pampa', without internet, really slumming it, because I wanted to try out a very very rural place. But, given that we also had pouring rain, this was a quite depressing experience and I took the first bus out. Now I am in a small town...

A streetcar named Hercules!
Now this was fun! I am still in La Coruña and yetserday was, for once, a nice ans unny day, so I took advantage and hopped on the streetcar. It's a semi-public means of transport in this town. Local people use it to go to the suburbs and beaches but it's modtly a tourist attrcation. Half way to the...

Next stop reached
For those of you who follow me on the map, I have this afternoon reached La Coruña. The hotel I booked myself into is called 'MOON' and it's absolutely fascinating. Rather small, very new and futuristic, even their dishes have names like Moonshine, Moonlake, Apollo, Eternal Steps and some such. I'm...

How crazy can you get?
Yesterday I went back to the church where the statue of Christ is, who so stubbornly refused to be placed in the cathedral of Burgos and wanted to remain in Finisterre instead. I lit a candle, or rather a few and do you know why? Because I begged for protection on my 'witch hunt'. I'm really getting...

Witches and food festival
I've found out a little about the witches. They are alive and kicking today, but although they are rumoured to be able to cast a nasty spell, they mostly are more like 'medicine women'. One, about 94 yeasr old, is quite famous and lived nearby. I have a little more work and investigation to do about...

I'm thrilled by the interest you take..
It's so gratifying to read your comments and see how you follow up on the stories I have to tell. Read nautikos' research into the wreck of the 'Serpent' and how sam444 collects pictures of lighthouses. Here is another story I found out about: In Cap Finisterre, where I am now is a church dating...

The mystery of the bronze boot lifted!
Trust me and my morbid imagination to think that the boot marked a spot where some lost soul felt the urge to end it all. I did of course make enquiries and the real significance is less spectacular but certainly more noble: Cap Finisterre marks also the final point of the pilgrimage along the St....
