The effects of our writing

I'm sure I am not the only one who experiences those days when we are sitting there in front of our computer, fingers poised to put donw our latest thoughts, articles, stories poems and then just think: why am I doing this? Will it make a diference to anyone? Will there even be a person who wants to... Sign in to see full entry.

A mistery and O'Hare

I'm late posting today, because, yet again, one of the misteries of life in Turkey has struck. It rained..mind you, a run of the mill rian, no storms or disasters. But, like clockwork, electricity and water went. It happens all the time and the connection between these occurences is a mistery. As is... Sign in to see full entry.

Beach Day Pics!

I think we were lucky to have chosen yesterday for our beach day, as this morning there is a sudden drop in temperature. It's quite chilly and the sky is overcast. Summer is over and one has to grab the best days as they come. The Beach Day was much nicer than anticipated and I even managed to sit... Sign in to see full entry.

World Smile Day

Apparently, its world smile day today. I always feel a bit uneasy about "World this that and the other" days. It's a sad state of affairs if the world needs an entire day to be reminded that there is such a thing as a smile! Be that as is may, just remember and give some one today a very special... It's time for some pictures again

Visa in place, passport safely back, cold subsided, all I'm longing for now is to go home. One more month and then..back to Miami. For comfort I was looking at some pictures I took on a memorable trip to the Florida Keys with my neighbor Cecilia, an outing we will repeat shortly. Here are some... Sign in to see full entry.

How I successfully cheat myself

I've just done it, so I thought I'll tell you about it. It might even inspire. As those who follow me know, the thing I hate doing most is anything related to household chores. But, since the luxury of a house keeper is a thing of the past, I have no choice but doing it myself. As I also often... Sign in to see full entry.

Final act of the visa drama

And curtain! I got my passport back, a bright red, blue and white visa glued in on the final page, valid until 2019!! That allows me to stay for 6 months each year for the next 10 years without needing to apply again and always looking to not overstay 90 days. Very gratifying. But here comes why I... Vogue and a runny nose

Runny nose, sore throat, headache, dizziness, nausea, you name it, I've got it. And no, I'm not going to post a picture of this decidedly unglamorous state of affairs, or maybe I will, later, just for laughs. This cold seems to be a souvenir from my coach trip as quite a few people were sneezing... Sign in to see full entry.

When did you last walk your chicken?

Even on the long coach journey and with all the stress, I couldn't stop looking out the window to see if I discovered something worth while to look at. After all, that's what dedicated travelers do, isn't it? When we came through the town of Söke which is famous for its fruit and vegetable market,... Sign in to see full entry.

The quintessential anti climax!

I have just made if back from Istanbul and absolutely have to tell you what happened after all the excitement and broo-haha. I made it to my appointment on time after 12 hours of no sleep on the coach. The first surprise was, that all the stuff in the US consulate was Turkish and the first language...
