Editormum, you said a mouthful!

If there's one memory I carry with me from the academic side of my high-school career, it's the utter contempt I had for the instruction I received. With the sole exception of my mathematics teachers - my algebra teachers were superb, and so was one of my two geometry teachers - I was disappointed... Sign in to see full entry.

You bet I'm intolerant!

That title was meant to pique (that's the correct spelling of that meaning of the word - a peak is on a mountain) your interest. It is also meant to be an accurate statement about my attitudes toward certain things. You might ask if I'm intolerant of other races in general. Nope, I'm not. I want to... Could someone please tell me where the tolerance is in this?

I was just reading an interesting article on Beliefnet, about the culture clash between therapists and those who practice conservative Christian theological principles. It turns out that despite trends attempting to change things, the mainstream of the therapy community is still very much opposed to... Sign in to see full entry.

What is it about the news?

This is something that is a detectable pattern now that I think about it. I first noticed in when WrittenByMe was up and running, but I didn't catch on until I wrote some items here. Whenever I write about current events, my rankings soar, but whenever I write about controversy - even though... Sign in to see full entry.

Part of the problem is...

We take this electricity stuff for granted. We flip on a light switch and expect a light bulb to respond to our command automatically. In fact, our entire civilization is dependent on electricity to a greater degree than is actually warranted. Instead of going back to typewriters, for example - or... Sign in to see full entry.

Beam me up, Scotty - I have no more intelligent remarks to make

I've discovered the past 24 hours or so that I've basically run out of things to write about. The news is duller than swill, the Chicago area is getting a taste of Europe's heat wave (without a repeat of our own 1995 disaster), and I'm flat out of things to say. That's why I haven't posted anything... Sign in to see full entry.

Worming our way through Windows' faults

Those of us that use Windows-based PCs have every right to be frustrated with Microsoft right now. By now, you have heard of the worm - called LovSan or "blaster" - that has caused so much devilment throughout the Internet. This worm has even shut down the entire Maryland DMV system - they couldn't... Sign in to see full entry.

Please be patient - they aren't finished with their server yet

MollyB just posted about The Animal Rescue Site. I clicked on the link and found to my dismay that its servers were down. Apparently, The Animal Rescue Site is an affiliate of The Hunger Site, as are a number of other donation-per-click sites. The Hunger Site Network is the big success story of the... Proving Whim's point about me and controversy

If I read Whim's comments correctly on other entries of this blog, controversy apparently isn't my style. Case in point: My blog Have we achieved The Dream? (If the link doesn't work, look for the title in my member profile - click on the word kidnykid at the top of this page.) Several of my latest... Sign in to see full entry.

An example of doing the right thing

This blog (written by Scoop ) tells the story of someone who feels she got punished for doing the right thing. For the purposes of my own blog, I will use just first names (I feel that principles are more important in this specific incident than personalities or full names). Rosemary was concerned...
