This Holiday Inn doesn't work hard for the money

I chose to make reservations at the Holiday Inn Select City Centre Lakeshore due to its proximity to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's so close to that destination, in fact, that when you are sitting in the plaza in front of the Hall of Fame, you can see the Holiday Inn logo from there. We... Sign in to see full entry.

Break out the Yankovicmobile and enjoy the ride

Weird Al Yankovic ought to write more medical parodies. For those of you who remember Like a Surgeon and Living With A Hernia, you know what I'm talking about - interns suddenly becoming fully-qualified transplant surgeons, billfold biopsies, and every different type of hernia known to surgery are... I predict a happy ending

Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot. FINDING NEMO is the latest Pixar offering to hit theaters. The film starts out telling the story of Marlin and his clownfish wife, who have just bought their little piece of real estate on the Great Coral Reef of Australia.... Sign in to see full entry.

The monument has been moved

The monument bearing the Ten Commandments of Bible fame has been moved to a private area of the Georgia state capital. Before that, the former chief justice of Alabama's Supreme Court, who had ordered the monument to be placed in a public area, had been terminated as chief justice and brought... It seems that Jemmie and I are having the same problem

We're both having a difficult time with remembering what we want to post. In my case, I was going to do something else on male-bashing that took my point further than I'd taken it. I remember the connection just fine at 3 AM, when my daughter is on the computer. But when it comes time for me to sit... Sign in to see full entry.

Update

I mentioned recently that our family had been having some serious orthopedic difficulties, and that we were having trouble convincing one of the doctors to take my husband's problems seriously. Yesterday, he managed to get off work early to go to the doctor. Said physician performed an analysis of... Sign in to see full entry.

Leftovers from a book review

Recently, in this blog, I reviewed Carolyn Myss' Anatomy of the Spirit. There was one part of that review I failed to include, and I'd like to put that here. As I likely stated in my last post on this book, Carolyn Myss uses the chakra system popular among Hindus and blends in a pinch of the... Sign in to see full entry.

The most terrifying thing on Earth

I'm not afraid of terrorists - at least as that word is defined in our culture. When we think of "terrorists," I (like most people in America) tend to think of members of another ethnic group, or race - unfortunately for the good guys and gals, Arabic people come to mind immediately. These people... Sign in to see full entry.

The Health Colonel hit the nail on the head

I happen to agree with TheHealthColonel about something - doctors just don't get the training they should in appropriate methods of assessing health habits. These assessments would help greatly when it comes time to do what is called a "differential diagnosis." To illustrate the principle of... Sign in to see full entry.

I promised myself I wouldn't write about this again, but..

It feeds my paranoid streak whenever I write a post and it ends up disappearing off the home page of BN within half an hour. I just want to see how long it takes this post to disappear off the "new posts" section of the BN home page. Just to get proven wrong. Sign in to see full entry.
