THE TIME HAS COME TO SAY GOODBYE...
I don't care for saying good-bye, so I am going to leave you with a post I wrote a couple of years ago. My greatest wish is for all of you to write your best, continue to grow and learn, and to strive always to be your best self. Some of you here especially touched my heart...you know who you are....

I'M TAKIN' MY BALL, AND GOIN' TO PLAY AT JUSTI'S HOUSE! I CAN'T WAIT!
I have had it! I am tired of waiting on folks, contractors, electricians, etc. who have put my life on hold waiting for them. Well I'm tired of that. I thought we would have a new roof by now, but at this point, it might to wait until spring. The black snakes just lucked out, and will have the...

WHILE GOING THROUGH A BOX OF PAPERS THIS MORNING BEFORE DAYBREAK,
I found a piece of paper on which I had scribbled a poem by Lilian Moore, a wonderful author of delightful children's poetry. I like all of her poems, but this one about "Pigeons" has always been a favorite of mine. Now pinned to a bulletin board within view, it will serve as a daily reminder to me...

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, NAME THEM ONE BY ONE...
Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. I love this refrain from the hymn "Count Your Blssings"; it's a hymn I usually think of as sung in rounds by...

I REWROTE MY "ABOUT ME" PAGE. DO YOU EVER READ OTHER BLOGGERS' " ABOUT ME "
PAGES? It's the first thing I read when I visit a writer's Blog. Our "About Me" page is our introduction to other Bloggers...our first, and some would say our only, chance to make a good impression. I am changing my "About Me" page because I've changed since I joined Blogit.com. I still have a good...

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD THE WIND ROARING AROUND THE EAVES OF YOUR
HOUSE? I'm getting used to the natural sounds of mountain living again...birdcalls, wind, rain, the rushing creek below the house...it's so good to be back in my little stone cottage in the woods. It's been very quiet here today except for the wind and rain. Max and I were on the porch getting in...

IT'S SO DIFFERENT NOW...
I can't even remember how many times I've picked up the phone to call Melanie...of course she's not here any longer. I regret not being home when she was so ill at the end. I'm so sad that I wasn't here to take a turn with Hawkins and family members and friends to say goodbye...to tell her how much...

Max and I voted yesterday...
We vote in the dining room of our community volunteer fire department. When we walked in yesterday, the aroma of something delicious simmering in a crockpot assailed our nostrils. Thank goodness we never have to wait in line to vote...well sometimes there might be three or four people waiting in...

WE'RE HOME, BUT WE'RE STILL PRETTY MUCH OFF THE GRID...
Dorothy was right...there's no place like home! We got to see the last of the leaves; it must have been one of those absolutely gorgeous fall seasons this year. The last of the tourists have left, and our small town is back to normal...mostly everything closes by 9:00 p.m. We're still looking for an...

SOME DAYS ARE JUST WORSE THAN OTHERS...
Max and I have been back in the United States since last Thursday. I had hoped that we would be back in Western North Carolina by now, but that was not to be. I needed to stay in Atlanta for a few days to do some things for my Daddy...who for the first time in my life looks like a frail, little old...
