I told Melanie I loved her one year ago today...she died a week later...
I talked to Melanie on the phone one year ago today for what would be the last time. She died one week later to the day. I am so thankful that at the end of the conversation, I told her how much I loved her. As a tribute to Melanie, I am going to repost a few posts I Blogged last year about her;...

WHAT IS LOVE? WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER TO THIS AGE-OLD QUESTION...?
I have been musing about LOVE this morning...romantic LOVE. I asked myself, "What is LOVE?"...certainly not an original thought! Still, in my musing, I wondered if we all take time to reflect on what LOVE is. Have you ever stopped to really reflect on this question...really reflect? Could you write...

"That's not me." I thought to myself as I looked at my reflection in the
mirror. Then I made a face at the me I saw in the mirror. "You're not me." I said to her. "You're inside of me..." That's all I remember. I think that was the first time I realized that I was different from the other members of my family; I was almost seven years old. I vaguely remember trying to...

IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!
I'm Southern through and through. I was raised by a Southern Mama...imprinted with her ideas, and marked forever by her words. She was always proud of me; not because I had done anything especially noteworthy before her death, but because I was her daughter...and I loved her, and I tried to please...

Do you ever feel like you're different...really different...from everyone
else? I felt like that when I was a child; more so as a teen. I grew up in a loving family, one of two daughters. From the time I was very young, I had a sense of being profoundly different. I felt like the proverbial square peg trying to fit into a round hole of which the world has no shortage....

I LOVE BEING INSPIRED BY OTHER MEMBERS OF BLOGIT.COM. YESTERDAY
TALION WROTE AN EXCELLENT POST ENTITLED "THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE IF EVERYONE WAS LIKE ME" IN HIS "A FOOL'S ERRAND" BLOG. I heartily recommend it. In his post, Talion writes about the imperfect nature of humankind, including his own, and then closes with two of the best thoughts I've read in...

THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF ANGST IN OUR BLOGIT.COM COMMUNITY...
When I think of the word angst, I first think of teenagers. I rarely associate it with any other group of people...angst is just one of those terrible emotional states that seems to be built into the teen experience...it's just part of the basic teenager package...standard equipment...no extra...

I HAVE FOUND DURING ALL MY MOVES THAT THERE ARE BASICALLY TWO KINDS OF
people we encounter on every project: There are those who hate their new location, the food, the culture, the locals, the expats, etc....just like they knew they would. AND There are those who love their new location, the food, the culture, the locals, the expats, etc....just like they knew they...

BEWARE OF FROZEN SQUIRREL CARCASSES CRASHING THROUGH YOUR WINDSHIELD...
Several days ago FLIGHTPATH reported a story that has just captured my imagination. A motorist was awarded a payment from his insurance company after filing a claim in which he reported that a frozen squirrel fell out of a tree, and came came crashing down through his windshield, obstructing his...

A LIST OF SECRET WISHES...NOT REGRETS, REALLY... JUST
SECRET WISHES AND LONGINGS... I wish I could sing like Billie Holiday. I wish I knew from experience what it looks like in the curl of a huge wave that I had ridden all the way to shore..steering my surfboard with the selfconfidence of youth and perfect form. I wish I had started keeping a journal...
