THIS IS JUST A QUICK UPDATE. I AM HOME...TRULY THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

I am at home in the mountains of WNC. Will be here a few extra days, and am having a wonderful time visiting friends and family. I will be doing some major cleaning the next few days...the mice have been extremeley naughty in our absense. Even so I rescued two today. One had fallen into the trash... Sign in to see full entry.

NEW FRIENDS, GREAT FOOD, AND THE BEST BLUEGRASS THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN...

Sometimes the world just gets too crazy. It seems that every news story is worse than the one that broke before it, something really terrible happens in the small town less than fifty miles from you,...a place where terrible things don't happen, and on the way home from wherever you pass a dead dog... GRANDCHILDREN ARE PUBLISHED BEFORE MUSER! I AM ONE PROUD GRANDMOTHER!

I am so thrilled about some news I received while visiting my grandchildren. My Granddaughter, Sigourney, won first place for fourth grade in her school's county-wide writing contest. Collin won second place among all second grade students in ehe county. Their stories were published in the local... Sign in to see full entry.

O.K. HERE IS WHAT ANYONE ON THE WWW CAN SEE ON BLOGIT

I was Googling yesterday...one of my favorite pastimes. I went to the search bar with a question in mind, but got distracted somehow along the way. I am sure you have done the same! Yesterday, though, in my wanderings I stumbled...bungled... into a website I had never before heard of. Now, I don't... Sign in to see full entry.

Today is Mother's Day, Darlins. The Barbedwire Magnolia just wants to remind

you to call your Mama if you can't be with her today. If you are going to visit your Mama today, make sure you at least have a card for her. Don't you show up empty handed now...it will hurt her feelins. "WHEN YOUR MAMA DIES YOUR HEART NEVER HEALS" My Mama always said that about her mother. She... Sign in to see full entry.

The rituals of Death can be very strange ...weird, even. TAPS' post

"Maracan Farewell" is a must read, I think. As Evel Kneivel was often heard to say: "Ain't none of us gettin out of here alive!" I have thought of my farewell plans for some years now, and this is what I've decided to do: Untraditional is definitely the best descriptor of my final departure... Sign in to see full entry.

A few thoughts on Lensman's writing...specifically the kind of writing he

does so well...the kind that not only reaches out and touches us, but takes us somewhere far, far away from the mundane where we are refreshed...maybe even renewed... for the briefest of respites. That is how I felt yesterday morning after reading Lensman's post...I went away on a lovely kayak ride,... Sign in to see full entry.

Rachael Rae Caldwell Hampton was known for cutting to the chase...PART II

Jo Lily and Aunt Rachael Rae PartII Rachael Rae Caldwell Hampton was known for cutting to the chase. Most Southern folk will beat around the bush, sometimes for days, before being able to come right out and say what they want. My Aunt Rachael Rae never had that problem! Her now excited voice,... THIS STORY IS THE ONE WHICH CONVINCED ME THAT SHOULD I EVER TRY TO PUBLISH,

I WOULD DO SO UNDER THE CATEGORY OF FICTION. I read in Natalie Goldberg's book "Writing Down the Bones" that relatives do indeed sue relatives over family stories. That is one particular kind of ugly I don't want to mess around with. I loved my Aunt Rachael Rae, and I love her children, and...I sure... Sign in to see full entry.

A POST RE FLIGHTPATH'S POST "WHY IS THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE SO HARD TO MASTER?

ENGLISH...hard to master? Yes, but only because... A master can teach us to master new skills such as making a copy from a master. There are masterworks and masterpieces, and there are masterful masterpieces, but no masterpiece is masterless. We pound stakes and we eat steaks, we pull up stakes and... Sign in to see full entry.
