The race is on.

Engines snarl to life crisply as the drivers, anxious to get onto the track rev them to their limits. The oddly sweet smell of nitro methane drifts on the breeze. Finally the cars are into positions on the starting grid awaiting the signal to start the race. A start tone from the scoring computer... Sign in to see full entry.

What price glory?

Another motocross season settles into the dust. Even as the last bikes are loaded onto the trailers and trucked off to who-knows-where, teams are furiously tweaking next year’s mounts. The riders will take a little time off, but with the start of Supercross coming up they can only afford a month to... Sign in to see full entry.

Ricky takes home all the marbles.

For the third year in a row and for the last time, Ricky Carmichael has dominated the 250cc class. No, he is not going to retire just yet, the 250 class will be re-named the Premier Motocross class. The 125s will campaign under the Motocross Lite title as part of AMA’s effort to end the confusion of... Sign in to see full entry.

I saw what?

A little Led Zeppelin maestro if you please. I saw a GT class road coarse race that was on Speed TV from Mosport Canada. Leading the field was a Cadillac. Yes, I said a Caddy was spanking a Corvette’s butt. He led most of the race and I assume he won. The phone rang or one of those things in life... Sign in to see full entry.

Ricky does it again!

Ricky Carmichael clinched the AMA outdoor 250cc motocross championship in Steel City Pennsylvania this weekend. That must have been a nice way to spend a Labor Day weekend for the young Floridian. RC went 1 – 1 on the day with Kevin Windham finishing second. What can one say? Ricky has yet to lose... Sign in to see full entry.

Motocross goes to Steel City.

With only two races left in the season, the AMA might as well hand the crown to Ricky Carmichael. His two closes rivals are out with injuries. James Stewart has a torn rotator cuff and several other injuries that he must attend to. Chad Reed is back down under getting his wrist repaired and... Sign in to see full entry.

Three days in August

Three A main races, three classes, three times the fun. Radio Control car racing is a curious undertaking. For the Northwest Championship Points Series, close to 300 entries are received for each race. Racers arrive at the track Thursday evening to take advantage of Friday practice. This weekend is... Racing by remote control.

Got your clothespin? Let’s go racing. One important aspect of radio-control car racing is the “frequency clip”, a clothes pin with a frequency number written on it. The idea is to prevent two people from having the same frequency and thus a conflict. There is a board with the frequency numbers on it... Sign in to see full entry.

So, they can turn right.

Once again the NASCAR bunch got together on a Sunday to have a race. Only this time it was on the road course at Watkins Glen. I’ll confess right now, I prefer the road courses. They are more challenging not only in their demands on the driver and the car to turn both ways but also to brake, shift... Sign in to see full entry.

Ballet on Bricks.

Indianapolis, home of the Indy 500 played host to the NASCAR boys last weekend and Tony Stewart took home all the marbles. Stewart, a local boy was clearly the crowd favorite despite being leaned on mighty hard by Kasey Kahne (I apologize if I spelled it wrong but it is late) my home boy. Stewart...
