So Many Travellers

are going to be out and about this coming long weekend. If you are one of them, travel safely; don't drive and drink; be considerate of other travelers and enjoy the weekend in its truest meaning of thankfulness for all we have. Sign in to see full entry.

Book Recommendation: Fledgling by Octavia Butler

This is a Vampire Novel, so I almost did not read it. Vampires are not what I enjoy reading about; I cling more closely to suspense (human type) and science fiction, some historical novels. I asked a simple question: Is this vigil to honor the dead, to protest our presence in Iraq, or both? That seemed to offend a few poeple who said I should... Sign in to see full entry.

When the funds come from public money. I am incensed that my President and my Congress have conspired to give taxpayer money to hurricane victims. Does that make me an ogre? I think not. Our Constitution is being ripped apart by Republican and Democrat alike. Charity is and should be an individual... Sign in to see full entry.

Based on a comment made by Xeno-x

I was reminded of an author I'd like to recommend to you all, Octavia Butler. She has writtn some fine science fiction, although it is science fiction that I think anyone, even non-SciFi readers would enjoy. One of my favorite books of hers is Kindred and the other is her "Parable" series. If any of... Sign in to see full entry.

Rampant Happiness!

Generally, I am a happy man. Today, however, I have been hit by a wave of happiness that I have not experienced in a long while. There is no reason for it that I can determine. It is a good day, as usual; I am just in a really, really happy mood, and wonder what good surprise the Universe has in... Sign in to see full entry.
