Sunshine - part 3

Sal glanced out and saw Art’s back and shoulders as he tethered Sunny to the parking meter. “Chen, it’s Butch,” she said. “It is? …. Good. I’ve got scraps for Sunny.” “Wait! It’s not Butch. It’s Art. Something’s wrong.” Chen watched at the pass-through as Art came in and sat at the counter. As Art... Sign in to see full entry.

Hair on end, in my splotched up painting sweatshirt. guy backed up a step. he's from a local construction company, looking for remodeling jobs, home improvements. life must be hell for those poor construction guys --... Sunshine - part 2

Art wasn’t sure exactly which of the cracker box houses belonged to Butch, it was either the second or third house from the corner. The Day After...

‘Twas the day after Christmas and all through the room lay the crumbles and bits in dire need of a broom for to clear the debris of a long Christmas day: scraps and bits left behind by the children at play. And me with a headache from indulging too much in sugarplums, cheese dip, sweet fruitcake and... Sign in to see full entry.

What I got for Christmas

On Christmas Eve my granddaughter who lives near Seattle sent via Facebook a photograph of Mt. Rainier rising majestically out of the tree-fringed foothills. As usual, the peak was wreathed in clouds -- it generates its own weather at times. I'd looked in awe at the highest peak in the Cascade range... Sign in to see full entry.

FB Fun -- one in a dozen is worth the click...

Don't know about your Facebook Friends, but most of those who aren't related to me are pretty cool. The relatives of the shirt-tail variety are a whole nother kettle of fish. I'd never heard of shirt-tail relatives until I moved to the Midwest -- apparently that means anyone who's related by... Sign in to see full entry.

Q. When's the best time to paint your bathroom?

A. During the Christmas shopping/planning season. When I moved into this house the bathroom was not only antique in its fixtures, it was painted in ugly colors: Hershey bar brown beadboard on the bottom half, desert tan on the top.At some point I painted the upper half an odd shade that was almost...
