Secret Treasure

You dive into pain, wince, like plunging into high, salty waves with all the sting stealing your breath away Then, once the smack dulls, dives in again for more Or, clutch closely heartache, like threads of a well knit blanket Each knit a different color of melancholy Each pearl, a tear fallen You live so meshed– without a break– in sorrow the days are dull and useless riding the carousel up and down from love to loathing reaching for the brace ring of peace, just out of reach, just beyond...
