Of Beggers and Theives:

Sentinel Do you know the man you see? Dare you know his thoughts? A cup of coffee, or a spot of tea or a blanket against the frost? His eyes persist to penetrate walls of distrust and social hate. His presence makes you agitate against the thought– “ This could be my fate.” Yet, there he stands, with emblems borne from cards stacked in crooked form. His hand was dealt and undercut by those who cheat others to make a buck. He stands, a human Sentinel, Shame is his name. Destitute, He asks for... Sign in to see full entry.

Choices

Choices I chose to be born in the flesh I didn’t have a choice the gender I’d be Being born, I was Me Seeing, again, the female flesh She didn’t want the Me she sees I gave my love She gave me criticism I gave my joy she gave me doubt I gave my time she gave me a prison She bound me as I gave for her love I was a slave A smile on her face was all that it took to lock my heart in place I chose a faith she found fault I chose a work she laughed and mocked I chose a mate she scorned with hate I... Mother’s Secret

A Girl? Another Girl? You’re wrong, you’re wrong! Take this Child away, away Take it away, I say, away What have I to do with Her, anyway? It should have been a fine boy He would have been, like Him, Like Him I love, Brother O’ Brother now gone. What do I with this Girl? I’ve got a girl, I have already Blonde and Blue eyed A Boy, ah, a boy would have been a prize I could have loved a Son, Like my Brother Brother O’ Brother now gone. Take Her, take her I say away, away, away I can’t bear her... Sign in to see full entry.

Heart to Heart

(For My Dying Mother) So close to mine is thy heart I feel its wonderous treasure though we’ve been apart through this distance measured The spirit of my love flies o’er the miles to prove no boundaries can be made nor images of form fade between heart and mind only the body stays behind The power of love comes from the heart and the mind receives its whispers and into the body the healing starts when love flows though barriers set between us, sorrowfully, kept apart I came from thy womb full of... Spoken Boughs

You are the tree I lean against in contemplative prose As pregnant clouds birth raindrops falling into my cup like a river overflowing tears of joy and angst For as the tree you stand steadfast and pity not the mortal that I be Your roots in terra-firma mock my contemplations The Sage of Time a thousand years ago with wisdom full wrested more desperate than me I, a babe in the woods, pull close the garment Anguish as wind whips and sirens about the bitter chill of mockery laughs against my... A Solstice Celebration - 2005

A Solstice Celebration 2005 Sunset at Blaine Harbour, WA January’s gift of snow did fall-- Falling soft in our garden, small Rest for all under a blanket of peace Where strife and turmoil have come to cease February sunshine warms them well Snow Drops that hang their tiny bells The garden of Earth begins to swell Spring has come to the dell March heralds spring with their trumpet face- Daffodils that bloom with stately grace- Warming days of heavy rains Make easy Earth’s labor pains April... Waste and Ruin

Stop the noise, stop the sound of gunfire going down of take and not give of mine, not yours not ours Mother is dying Mother is crying her children hate her they spit on her mock her wisdom take light her scolding You think you are wise You are fools You think you are powerful Superpower You are weak You’re drowning in greed, waste and ruin Mother lies beneath us She wraps us in air She lifts us up onto the mountain She opens the waters and brings us down She shows us where we began she is our... Reprise:Natural Terrorist

I wrote this poem in March, 2002, in response to the insanity of human beings killing other human beings, what we sanitize as War--one our unelected president was about to commit on the most stable, least defensable, soverign nation of Iraq. I love the Earth, I respect her as well. We are fleas on the back of Mother Nature and when she gets irritated with our bad behavior and disrespect, she has her way of "shaking us off," not one at a time, but by the thousands. When we spoil her water--which... Sign in to see full entry.

Man on Hawley Road

Oh! the Fallow Ground lay Weeping- as tears well-up to the surface of unbroken soil-- Drops fallen from heavy laden clouds. Weed and Thistle spread laughingly o'er the crusted field-- No Rows, nor poles. No String or twining vine. Crickets and Hoppers sing- Hee-Hee, Hee-Hee as the Crows Caw disgustedly- "Where is He?" Where is He?" There against the gate they wait, The Hoe, The Rake and Shovel. For He once took them earnestly, To work away his troubles. He lumbers in from labors past and nods...
