Do you read the book first or see the movie first?

I'm reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" right now, a facinating book, and I am looking forward to the movie which will be out soon. When movies are based on books, do you think it's better to read the book first or see the movie first? I usually have always read the book first because I read so much but... and then there was...

I'm going to cut short this week of former job musings unless someone wants to hear more-- it's hasn't been fun for me to get into that. Working at a job that is difficult or doesn't provide joy and opportunity is just drudgery and I don't want to write about it. The most rewarding work I've done is... Sign in to see full entry.

Are memories mellowed by time?

Thinking about jobs past, one of the most difficult jobs I had was as a cable splicing supervisor for the phone company. I had to learn to climb telephone poles (pole climbing school was a nightmare), learned how to work in 'manholes' and I learned to read engineering drawings. I was the... Sign in to see full entry.

A week of former job musings

I decided to do a week of writing each day about former jobs. It won't be boring-- I've had some interesting ones for sure! One of the most rewarding former job I had was as a caretaker for Alzheimer's patients. My longest term patient, Ardythe, was my friend for almost 5 years. I learned so much... found the toolbar!

Hi you bloggers, if you are having trouble adding photos or changing fonts, try a different browser. I was using Firefox because they are so good at blocking popups but when I tried my Netscape 7.2, this wonderful toolbar showed up! Here is a photo of Christmas past: Sign in to see full entry.

Do any of you bloggers hate Christmas music?

I'm hearing it again- in stores, restaurants, malls, elevators-- everywhere I go! You know what I'm talking about- that Christmas music. It's my recurring issue of 'do I have a choice here?' What if I DON'T want to hear Christmas music? I'm feeling myself fighting this descent into my annual... Sign in to see full entry.

ok, which of you wears the same clothes all the time?

For as long as I can remember I have tended to have a small set of clothes that I am most comfortable in and wear all the time (washed of course!). How many of you have a closet full of clothes you never wear? Periodically, I give loads of them away to the Salvation Army but more seem to accumulate.... Sign in to see full entry.

Are you blogging in your head when you're not at your computer?

Driving around today, I found my brain kind of blogging without a computer. It was going on and on about things and I would think, wow, another subject for a blog! For years now, I have found myself periodically awake at night realizing that my brain has been writing something in my sleep but I... Sign in to see full entry.

A change of heart

I've decided to re-name this blog, formerly "how do you feel when you face what you fear?" As wonderful a topic as that is to consider, there are many experiences I want to write about that don't involve facing fears (although existentially, could one say everything is about that?) Now we will just... Sign in to see full entry.
