Lost on the way to our wedding!

We got lost on the way to our wedding- no kidding! Bruce and I got married in the little town of Amor, Minnesota which is near my parents’ lake home. It’s in Western Minnesota, lake country, land of a thousand lakes and a thousand little unmarked country roads. The land is mostly flat and the roads... Sign in to see full entry.

I miss snow!

With all this talk of hobbit stew, I am remembering how nice it is to sit with a warm bowl of soup (or stew!) after a day outside in the snow. I miss the fluffy coolness, the clean smell of snow, the mystery of a snowflake. I even miss the gravelly crunchiness that happens when snow gets mixed with... Sign in to see full entry.

The brothers

Isn't it great when your family likes your husband? I've been married before and my family didn't like the person I was married to at all and it really caused some problems. Now, they all love Bruce and of course, he is a lovable guy! I remember one of the first times he met my Mom and Dad- we were... Sign in to see full entry.

Crackers the duck is missing from our spa!

This afternoon I went out to our spa to look for Crackers (formerly named Quackers) and he was GONE! I feel so bad about it because I promised Lucy (OFFBEATS) 50/50 custody of the little critter once I found out how much she likes ducks. I was going to send Crackers over to her Fed Ex (next day... Blue water/green water

I promise I won't go overboard with the fish stories- but I have lots more if you want to hear them! Here is a photo of some very blue water- you might ask, isn't it all blue? Actually, the water near our coast is very green for about the first 10 miles out. When it turns to blue, it is... Sign in to see full entry.

Fish story- and all of it's true!

During my previous marriage we had a boat, a 32-foot Grand Banks trawler that we took fishing everywhere off the southern California coast and into Mexico. We learned how to hunt the big fish, read the water currents and temperature, and learned to watch for kelp paddies and diving birds. I used to... Sign in to see full entry.

Memorial to Ardythe

I just had to post this photo of my favorite Alzheimer’s patient, Ardythe. I visited her weekly for 5 years during a time when my former cat Pussycat and I were living alone in various apartments. I was struggling to pay the rent, learning how to be single again, and going through that sometimes... Sign in to see full entry.

Dolphin stories

During the summer of 1994, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a week swimming with wild dolphins off the coast of Key West Florida; it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. These wild dolphins were incredibly beautiful- I almost hyperventilated underwater at the sight of them... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's a cutie!

It was probably a good thing I didn't know Bruce when we were little. We would have gotten into SO much trouble! On the other hand, he may not have even looked twice at me- I was so gangly and geeky. I used to look at cute boys like this and run the other way. Fear of rejection I think! Look at this... Sign in to see full entry.

Did any of you bloggers get 'stuck' at a certain age?

I think I've got it figured out. I got 'stuck' somehow at that geeky age of about eleven. That would explain a lot! At that age, I loved to climb trees, read, play outside, write long stories about bugs, goof off, make 'forts' (clothesline tents), collect frogs, ride my bicycle, etc. Maybe that's...
