Animal rights

Over the past few days, I've been "surfing" a variety of websites relating to the subject of animal rights - both those sites set up by groups like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and those sites set up by opponents of those groups. This "surfing" binge has been prompted by a discussion which occurred over the weekend on one of my email lists. That discussion was about animal rights, as opposed to animal welfare. Observations on the pro-life movement

Last night, in between football-watching sessions (the Bears are on the way to the Super Bowl this year - gloat, gloat), I watched some of the Solemn Vigil Mass for Life, celebrated at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. This Mass is held each year on the night before the March for Life, itself held on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision handed down on January 22, 1973.
