I HAVE HAD A GREAT TIME
I am a fortunate woman. I have been so blessed since I was on Blogit last. I haven't had time to miss all of you, but I do now that all our children have gone home. There is no way I could have wanted more than to have all the children and grandchildren home at one time for four days and one of them for six days. One grandchild was away on another vacation and was not available but it was wonderful. I just want you to know I survived, thrived and will be writing again soon. Bless all of you who...

THEY ARE HERE
Well they are not here this moment, Papa has taken them sight seeing. He has been scooting them around all over the place since they arrived. We have had wonderful food. Wonderful reunion and all is well and busy. I will be back to see you and to read you soon. God bless you all!

DOWN TO THE WIRE
We have only two days until The Day! We will be having seven overnight house guests for three days. That, to an only child is a barn burner. It is such a joy to get ready for this. I have all this mountain of things left to do and last night I am cutting our jello flowers and hearts for two little girls. I really am looking forward to playing with the children. This is day #9 with temps of high, very high 90s. They will need to play inside and I want to have a lot for them to do. They would get...

ALABAMA HAS DONE IT AGAIN
Well we did it again. Alabama can break records all over the place. There are times we break records on happenings that never happened except in the minds, pens and mouths of Media! My daughter called yesterday and said Mobile, AL had set a record of the highest temperature on that day since 1898, I believe that was the date. It is still hot and humid here. People talk about frying eggs on concrete, why would you? Here you may melt a skillet made of anything less than cast iron. We have some...

TOO HOT TO HANDLE
I think of this sort of weather in late, mid July or even into August, not June. It is so hot and humid I expect to see Al Gore's face in the clouds. What sorts of fun do you engage in during the summer months? I love picnicking, swimming, and simply getting together with others at neat places to see concerts, art shows, etc., it is too hot to do those now. We have a new place called Moon Song Cafe where new and old bands, individuals who write their music whether it has or has not been recorded...

I RESPECT A STAND ON WHAT ONE BELIEVES
There is such a major difference in one standing up for what they believe and one standing up and saying I am a fool for my beliefs. There is room for both parties to express themselves this way. Maybe neither will change their opinions but they are civil and not calling the other person an idiot for their ignorance because they do not agree. Lustorlove did just that. She stood up and told me exactly what she thought without calling me a buffoon. I appreciate that. I can only tell her what I...

DON'T DO IT
It is truly amazing how some bloggers use another's work to fuel their blogging career by vilifying their work. Even copying excerpts from it even after Bloggit has warned about that activity. So if you can't take the heat in the kitchen don't print anything about the Bible. My Play Fair or Take Your Ball and Go Home blog is the worst for getting junk. That is fine because it is not a kind, sweet little victorian poem of honey bees, flowers and great forever love regardless of what one has to...

I AM READY. ARE YOU?
As I write this it is 48 CST minutes into the week-end. This week has been one of those that lasts weeks it feels like. The news has been strange. I watch what is happening in Iran. But more interesting was what was happening in New Jersey. I have seen a lot of hail in my lifetime but nothing like what happened there. It was banked up like snow. People were raking it back in order to get their cars out on to the streets. I have always been fascinated by the Bible's projection of hail stones...

A VERY CLOSE FRIEND SUDDENLY ISN'T
Has anyone ever noticed a person who has been your very close friend begin making changes, changes some more and soon you hardly know this person? My quandary is whether she is changing or I am changing or is it just that life has passed us as a team of friends by? This has been a really close relationship for fifteen years. She came to a Bible study I was doing at our church on Women of the Bible. After the first class and we were on our way out of the building she caught up with me and said....

SIDETRACKED NOW AND THAT IS FINE
I found squiggly straws, bubbles, sidewalk chalk and DVDs for the children, but I put them away with other items. What other items exactly they were I can't remember at this moment. This is all right on track for me. One year some of the children were coming in the late fall and we would not see them for Christmas so I bought gifts early, wrapped them all the pretty and put them out of the way since I think it was about the 4th of July or something and they weren't coming until late fall. Time...

Good Morning New Week
It is early Monday morning and a beautiful day, bright, not so hot yet and a slight breeze blowing. The Bass fishers have gone home, the lake is silent but maybe a barge slapping a runaway wave occasionally. It is so peaceful one would think the world was safe and refined. I am planning my work for the arrival of the children - really the little ones there are only three of them. I have to make Bear Pancakes and freeze them, Homemade mixes for them to bake cookies and little pocket books for...

TODAY IS A NEW DAY
I never dreaded nor looked forward to getting old. Now that I am here I would tell myself if I had it to do again I would do the same. I have learned so much about myself, others and life in general by coming into this era without expectations. There is so much baggage collected in earlier life that slows you down to looking into yourself and your wants and needs far too much. When you have reached an age, different from one to another I suppose you begin to look around you and see the world...

WELCOME HOME DEAR LADY MAGNOLIA
Darlin' we would have read the map for you. Oh forget that we would have picked you up had we known you wanted to come home. I have truly missed you even if we have been hanging out together on another one of these writing places. That one is the same except different. I am looking forward to some of your lovely chatter box daily stuff writing like the Three in one Magnolia Sisters and all that other good stuff. Is Max still missing his sleek, shinny and tall steel Vamps? That was one of my...

HOW VULGAR CAN IT GET BEFORE WE SAY 'ENOUGH ALREADY'?
There are so many layers to the audacity of some people that it is incredibly offensive to sane minds and consciences. Is this political correctness? It has not a single thread of correctness. If it is political you are backing Satan, on other could be so vulgar. It is considered 'hate speech' to speak disparagingly against a gay person or gay behavior! I declare that some of their behavior in a public venue is beyond hateful to others. How can sane people be expected to tolorate this? Baron...

THIS TIME OF YEAR TASTS GOOD
Fried squash blossoms, salads with fresh home grown butter lettuce and batches of herbs, laced with day lily and marigold blossoms. I like fresh steamed vegetables, home grown tomatoes and cucumbers. All these things appear to be fresher and tastier if they are home grown. We have a wonderful farmer's market. We have a small garden at home. If I had more land I would grow more; freeze and can enough to last all winter just as my Mother did, but I don't have enough space. Do any of you garden?...

JUST ONE MORE MONTH
Just one month, not really long at all, George and I will have all our children and grandchildren in our home. If this has never happened to you even if you have children you know what I am talking about. We have not had all our children in our home at one time in twenty five years. This is going to be a real celebration. It is time to make new headboards and bed-frames, paint rooms and tweak it all. I am about to cook and bake all that will freeze so we have time for enjoying one another with...

SPRINGS PROMISES
Our garden is such a joy you can almost see it growing. I love the fresh herbs. I snipped basil, marjoram, lemon thyme and lemon balm and chopped them to give a fruit salad a jump start and it was delicious. I think of spring like a new family. The little plants, or buds on the trees are like little babies with such promise of someday being a great scientist, a major league baseball player or a good family man who builds houses or drives a truck for a living. A good man is the promise. The same...

Restful Weekend
Man I am lazy tonight; worth less than a token, one of those little metal coins used for tax when I was little. I had not thought of them in years. I think they were gone before I was able to exercise the actual spending of money. I did rest this week end. I did things I love to do and they had been neglected for a long time. I sorted photographs, threw away a lot of things. I gathered costume jewelry and made potpourri for the nursing home where they have their penny auctions and love the...

WHAT TIME IS IT
Time is not a standardized thing. I hate to break this to you but time moves faster at some times than it does at other times. I remember at age ten or so I thought a day was a week long. Nothing ever happened fast enough. At eighteen I was impatiently waiting for twenty-one. At twenty-nine I wanted never to reach thirty. Now forty years later it seems birthdays come monthly and you increase a year in each. It is the most amazing thing. A project I once did in a few minutes can take most of a...
