This is the sixteenth of a series of stories about my childhood during WWII. Looking back it was an unusual childhood not only because of the war but the whole environment. In the farming community where I lived the fewest number of children in a household was four except ours I was it. I had neither sibling to talk with, nor playmates to any extent except in school.
