I got the floor done. As soon as the neighbor left, I got out there. Like I said, I am picky, so I got on my hands and knees, and of course I ended up doing the baseboards, too....and the pantry door; it had something splashed on it. The work was therapeutic; it got the blood pumping and with each... Sign in to see full entry.

Arrrggh. It was a weird day. I'm having an issue with the former tenants of one of the properties that I manage; they trashed the place, creating approximately $1500 in repairs. The poor owner doesn't have that kind of money. Now the former tenants say they want their $600 deposit back...which I am... Sign in to see full entry.

Forty-two days till Christmas. I can make a difference in my home in forty-two days. Or, should I coin that, "CAN I make a difference in my home in forty-two days?" Herein lies the challenge.... Eighty-four days until the Seminar. Exactly twice as much time as the above deadline. I'll just get my... Sign in to see full entry.

So here I sit, writing all about my messy house, surrounded by a stack of unopened mail, scratch paper, and what amounts to a basically messy desk. My husband tells the kids when their rooms are trashed that their rooms are an 'abortion'. I really think he's got the term wrong. I think the term is... Sign in to see full entry.

Beginnings

So.....a forty minute lecture on Cleaning and Being Organized, eh? My mom used to try to give me those....they never took. And I never listened. And here I am, still a confirmed slob. You should see my car...! I'm really, really glad my mother doesn't live in this town. My sister still lives over... Sign in to see full entry.

Since I don't know how to change this blog from Humor to Journal, I am going to still make use of it. I need to journal about some stuff. What set it all in motion a week or two ago was the assignment to teach a Women's Seminar. I love that sort of thing, and I eagerly volunteered, without even... Sign in to see full entry.

Panama, I Presume?

I am an official Word Nerd. This has its roots in my early education, at a very forward-thinking grade school in Pennsylvania. We were not permitted to say 'ain't', or to use poor English at all, for that matter. For this we were severely and publicly reprimanded. The students of Grandview... Sign in to see full entry.

Brilliance Delayed

The economy's troubles have had an impact on us; there are fewer dollars in the bank nowadays...but in several ways, it's brought friends and loved ones closer together. We are nesting much more. We are staying in our homes more. We are cooking more. Last night we were invited over for a pot-luck at... Sign in to see full entry.

The 'Abused' Teenager

I could hear and feel my 16 year old son fidgeting behind me in the back seat of our family car. His 14 year old sister asked curiously, "What's that, what are you doing?" He was shaking his hands back and forth, randomly. He said, "It's called shaken baby syndrome," then he leaned over towards her... Sign in to see full entry.

Just a Matter of Taste

We were at the weekly Costco 'Chow-Down' last Saturday morning, partaking of their plentiful samples. Most were quite tasty; being wannabe food critics, we commented to each other on the redeeming qualities of the offerings...wasabi cheese, chicken lettuce wraps, etc... however, when we came to the...
