Healthy Female Snowy Owl
The Snowy Owls are beginning to flood the area. It typically takes them several days to recover after that long flight from the Arctic Circle, but this one looks 'in fine feather.' Note that her head is swiveled 180 degrees to see who or what was behind her. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Ship In Hiding
Lake Superior has been pitching a fit the last few days, causing all of the big cargo ships to seek shelter in the shallows along the various bays. A friend of mine took this photo of an unnamed ship that tipped the tape at roughly 1100 feet long. It was hiding in the shelter of Eagle Harbor along... Sign in to see full entry.

A Mother, Father, and Daughter Reunion
While I can only be sure that the two females are related because I have seen them since the yearling doe on the right was a baby, I can't be sure that the six-point buck is its father. The deer herd is in great shape as the majesty of these animals is evident. It's mating season in Michigan, and... Sign in to see full entry.

Here, Porkie!
We were out in the forest walking earlier this summer when we ran into this guy. The Best Photo I Have Ever Taken
This is the photo of our lifetime. Although the medical mumbo-jumbo is difficult to understand if you aren't used to reading it, this MRI report clears my wife to go to Florida with me. Thank GOD, thank God! In plain language, it says there is no evidence of a tumor remaining. There are, and these... Sign in to see full entry.

Ruffed Grouse
This is a male Ruffed Grouse, the state bird of Pennsylvania, in full display. I found him out in the opening of a large wooded area, beating his wings, making their typical 'womp, womp, womp' noise, in search of females. Some people will confuse the grouse with a partridge, but the two birds are in... Sign in to see full entry.

This photo was one of my 'curiosity shots. I spied this large snail crawling under the calmer waters along the Tahquamenon River. The water is about ten inches deep, and the snail had just left the land to go look for food. You can see its trail as it moved. The water was moving slowly, but still,... Sign in to see full entry.

hi! It has been an odd day today. We woke up together but we didn't have anything particular to do so we stayed in bed & just talked. It was very nice and fun. It has been raining or snowing or raining and snowing here all day. We can't get to Florida soon enough! I have about everything done that... Sign in to see full entry.
