This is a flower off the same bush that produced the yellow one I posted a few days ago. This shot wasn't nearly as sharp as the first one, but it was very low on the bush, and it was a very sunny day. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

I've seen a lot of eagles in my time in the UP, but there are shots that will take your breath away. Shots like this one. This huge male eagle came swooping down from about 100 feet in the air at a very high rate of speed. He skims the water very lightly, but he came out with a 7 to 8-inch fish and... Whitefish Bay Light House at Night

This is a night shot at the Whitefish Bay Light House. Whitefish Bay Point is about half a mile to the east of this building. This was the light the Edmund Fitzgerald was looking to find but came up fifteen miles short. Just as Don McLean sang, 'Starry, Stary Night,' a song about Vincent Van Gogh's... Such A Pretty Boy!

One of the last 'creature pic' I took in the UP was this stunning male Ringneck pheasant. For the longest time, pheasants led a very cyclic population cycle in my native Michigan. The number of pheasants followed the number of foxes. When the pheasant population was low, the number of foxes... Sign in to see full entry.

The Last Sunset

This was the very last photo I shot in the Upper Peninsula. We went out for a drive to get a last look at the 'Yoop,' and this opportunity showed itself. Typically, I would have wandered a bit to avoid the power cables, but the scenery is so beautiful, you really don't see the wires. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Short Eared Owl in the Snow

I took this late in the fall. I found it crazy how many owls I found sitting out in the open like this guy. It wasn't unusual to see the giant Snowy Owls in plain sight. They use the northern areas like the UP and north for their breeding areas. Here is some good information on the bird. Check it... Sign in to see full entry.

Mad Moose

I think I posted this photo a year ago, but it went down with it when we took down the old server. We met this big boy crossing M-28, the main east-west thoroughfare for most of the UP. It was mating season, and he was not happy that we slowed down. He stood behind us, pawing at the ground and... Sign in to see full entry.

Evening Sunset

This was a lake not far from our place in Newberry. The UP was not a place for the average person, but it had many magnificent views for those brave enough to be there. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

A Snow Scene

I can't remember where we were going, but it was snowing and slippery! As we went by this old farm, Lisa pointed to it and remarked how beautiful the scene was, so I stopped and took this shot with my cell. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Twin Birds, Twin Landing

I had seen these two eagles in the area for several years. Where you saw one, you usually saw the other. I believed them to be sibling brothers, but I had no 'proof' of that. This particular day, I caught them coming to land on the same branch, at the same time, but from different sides. It was... Sign in to see full entry.
