The Tobacco River

This is the Tobacco River in Keweenaw County, that big point on the west side of the Upper Peninsula. This is another photo we took while on our honeymoon two years ago. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

The Northern Lights Over Lake Superior

This was a spectacular night roughly two years ago today. That just you see is what is called "Miners Castle." Sadly, that may be the last time I see it like that. It is beginning to crumble, and they have fenced it off so no one can get to it. Check it out. Sign in to see full entry.

Sunset Steam

Digging through my archives, I found this shot. I can't remember the lake's name, but it had been a hot day by UP standards. As the sun was setting, a mystical steam rose off the lake, making for this wonderful photo. Check it out. Sign in to see full entry.

A Blue Racer Snake Cooling Off

This was a BIG snake, probably close to six feet long or more. For the UP, it was a fairly hot day... about 88 as I remember... and this big guy was using the damp log in the river to drop his body temp using the theory of ' The Heat of Evaporation.' Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Daylight In The Swamp

When I was young, I worked on the farm with my father, and every morning when he would open my bedroom door and yell, " Come on, Doc! It's daylight in the swamps! " This is what he meant! Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

I have read that since then that a bunch of knuckleheads tipped it over, proving that about the time you know the dumbest person in the world, a new contender pops up every day. Check it... The Old Man

In my six years of being in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, this old guy was the one moose who never seemed to mind if I got close to him. I called him "The Old Man." I was standing about fifteen feet from him when I took this shot. A tree had fallen close to the railroad tracks, and they trimmed... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunshine Lake

It was almost dark, with the sun dying in the southwest corner of the lake. Just as the angle grew, the colors exploded. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

It's Not the Dark Side of the Moon... But Close!

It's been a while, and I'm going to spend the day working on my Vella projects, so I thought I'd throw this photo out here. This is the back side of the Tahquamenon Falls. As we approach our second wedding anniversary, Lisa and I were going back through some photos we took on our honeymoon This shot... Sign in to see full entry.

Trumpeter Swans Landing on the River

That I caught this moment on camera was either pure luck or a miracle. I was standing on the little 'bend' in the river and looked up to see this pair of Trumpeter swans coming in 'hot.' When they finally got stopped they were less than ten feet from me. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.
