The Northern Lights Over the Keweenaw Peninsula

This isn't the sharpest focus shot I have ever had, but to get these shots, you have to lengthen the time the shutter is open. If you have never witnessed this effect, the reflections dance in the sky like the lights off a mirror. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Superior Campfire

I don't think I have posted this shot before, but hey, I'm old! We camped on the shore of Superior two different nights during our honeymoon. This is on the west side of Munising. That land mass on the left is Grand Island. I think I may have posted the shot from the other side of the island, but I... Sign in to see full entry.

The *Mighty Mac* on Labor Day 9.5.22

The Mackinaw Bridge, known locally as 'The Mighty Mac,' was host to the annual bridge walk. The six-mile-long bridge was shut down from ~ 6 AM until about 12:30 PM for thousands of people to walk across it, something that is illegal to do any other day of the year. This has been a tradition since... Sign in to see full entry.

A Misty Mirror at Trout Lake

Every time we came back to the UP, we would travel through the small little berg of Trout Lake, but the lake itself was not visible via the route we took. One early morning we were coming back home and Lisa asked me to show her the lake. To say she was awe-struck was an understatement. Remember to... Sign in to see full entry.

Bull Moose Walking

This old bull moose who absolutely knew we were standing there, walked out of the forest, looked at us and the dogs, and then made his way down the path, heading to the Tahquamenon River. This bull was about seven feet tall, hoof to the top of his head. We had seen him before, and I'm pretty sure he... Sign in to see full entry.

A Superior Campfire

This is another "honeymoon" photo. We camped on the shore of Mama Superior one hot August night and enjoyed the sounds of the relentless waves and songs of the birds. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Coiled Corn Snake

We were walking out of the forest and to the parking lot, and this young corn snake turned to us and "stood up" to warn us he was dangerous. Corn snakes are not poisonous or dangerous. They eat lots of mice and other rodents. We took a step back and he stood down and crossed the road. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Tree Frog

I found this little guy on the leaf of a plant I think is a Hydrangea. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Sweetie Pie and Her Fawn

This white deer is a very well-known animal in the UP. She was born in the spring of 2017, making her about five, and this is her fourth fawn. She is a good mama, and so far, all of her babies have grown to be adults. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Two Orange Mushrooms

Technically, these are fungi, but who cares? LOL. In the middle of dead leaves and pine needles, these two life forms brought some beauty to the forest. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.
