We would see this variety of eagles in the UP on occasion, but they weren't as trusting as the Bald Eagles were. I think this is a young male. The females are typically bigger and without as much coloring. Sign in to see full entry.

Located about thirty miles south of the Keweenaw Bay near a tiny little town named Herman, the Silver River has a number of falls. This is one of the more interesting falls (to me, anyway!). I was walking in a particularly dense part of the Hiawatha National Forest when I saw this trail. There had been no other "mass trail," but this one had been used occasionally. One of the trails I often would travel in the UP took me along the shores of a glorified swamp/lake, depending on how much rain we had gotten lately.
