I caught this shot on a frigid day in March a few years ago. It might have been cold, but the eagle couple was busy assembling a nest for the little ones they would have in early May. This is the female. Her feathers have lighter bands at the end of her feathers, while the males do not. Sign in to see full entry.

The eagle on the left is a "teenager," a bird about three or four. The bird on the right is an adult, probably ten to twelve. They get the famous white head at age five, but sometimes earlier and sometimes later. I got so I recognized certain birds by their habits and actions. This bird was probably... This photo has a special meaning to us. It was taken in August 2020 during our honeymoon. As we stood there, looking at the beautiful waters of Superior, my wife said, "It looks endless, doesn't it?" I can't remember why I had stopped along the road, but I caught this shot of a passing snow plow on M-28, the main east-west thoroughfare across the UP, after a heavy snowfall. Sign in to see full entry.

We had a farmer in the UP who always had a huge field of sunflowers yearly. I've got a lot of pictures of the flowers from many different angles because I like to experiment, but then an idea came to me.
