It's because they are always dear to our hearts, forever, leaving a footprint in our hearts.
Cheers

You're so right...
When my Nan died my Pop went out to the cemetary every day for about a year. Now I think he only goes out to see his late girlfriend and only puts flowers down for nan when it's a birthday or something. 11 years on my Nan is still close to my heart, I never forget her.

It depends on how close they were to you.
Celebrities, politicians, and casual acquaintances are often out of mind almost as soon as they are out of sight. But those who made a real impact on our lives are remembered frequently. Good friends, great writers, and favorite actors are often remembered long after they are gone. And not a day goes by that I don't miss the grandparents who raised me, or the Dad I grew up apart from. Even the ex who left me is still missed and thought of fondly -- and she still lives.

My husband, Bob,
Passed away almost 5 years ago this November 12th. He isn't forgotten, but thought of regularly as well as lovingly. But you grieve in your own way, it gets easier to go on with out that person, but I still have moments when I break down and cry.

They are never lost
They are never gone
Grief is a form of magic
Magic that keeps them alive in our waking and walking days of this earth
Grief is magic

Maybe it's a little of both sweetie.
While we can think of those who have passed on, we can't dwell on it...our focus is with the living. It's the way it needs to be in order for us to survive.
