Election Fraud..now this guy has a reason to be bummed!!

A man running for governor in Arkansas (a town of 80) should be good and pissed. He was the long running, to put it mildly. He joked to his friends that he knew he had one vote, at least (his own). His wife went in to vote at City Hall, and she saw that her husband's name had zero votes next to it.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Fruit Cake Lady

I hope I'm really wrong on this. I caught the tale end of a trailer for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It said they were doing a Tribute to The Fruitcake Lady. Did she die recently? I haven't seen anything in the news. Sounds crazy, but I looked forward to seeing her do her segment each year. She... Sign in to see full entry.

This Can You Believe This is Real, and It's Direct from Blogitville

It's almost 3 a.m here in Maryland, normally the time I tend to get myself in most trouble for my ad hoc verbal rantings. I accept it. It's (probably) going to happen again, and I really, really don't care. If I were shaking my head back and forth more, it would start to go the entire 360 degrees... Sign in to see full entry.

The Word F-A-N comes from which word?

F-A-N-A-T-I-C! See if you agree. First, I know because I've been in that category, and I'd be red-faced to admit a lot of my behavior in the name of college basketball. A University of Maryland emergency physician was part of a study involving men, their love of sports and emergency medical care.... Sign in to see full entry.

Short post, as I'm running out the door. I'll add more later,

but this struck me big so I had to just say something. The Federal Deficit is the lowest it has been in years. It's something like $247 billion now. Still a lot of chicken nuggets to me, but that rate makes some of them happy up there, I guess. Without reading the article, can you take a guess at... Sign in to see full entry.

You Can Do It---But Why Would You Want To--Eating Contests

Every state has a favorite sport; and every town seems to have a love affair with a particular food. Texas recently played host the Jalapeno Eating World Chapionship at the State Fair of Texas. This year, a 62-year-old retired accountant from Nevada swallowed 247 peppers in eight minutes to win the... Sign in to see full entry.

Two Steps Beyond Shaken Baby Syndrome. Why we need to build

more prisons. Two quotes come to mind in relation to this story. One word---sickening---comes to mind---but two quotes: 1: “Necessity is the Mother of Invention.” 2: “The majority of injuries happen at home.” Cops agree that domestic situations are among the most complicated and dangerous of crimes.... Shootout at an Amish School...breaking news

This isn't meant to be funny. It definitely falls into this category of Can You Believe This, however. I'm in Maryland, watching the noon news. They just broke in with a report that there has been a major shooting at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. One victim is critical.... Sign in to see full entry.

Arrowheads and Meth Labs

I used to write for law enforcement publications, and I'm looking at the existing markets to decide if I want to start up again. I found a link to a Web site that has a few blurbs. This one from last year had short article that fits this blog in spirit and word. An Arkansas deputy spent a good bit... Sign in to see full entry.

Newspaper Headlines: Does Clever Supercede Accurate?

Well, of course it does. I remember agonizing when I wrote a few headlines. They're short. You have to pick the exact right couple of words so the reader will deem your article more interesting than the next. It must scream: "Pick me, pick me!!!!" That has always been the case. The thing is, it... Sign in to see full entry.
