A Happy New Year

A happy and healthy New Year to everyone. Having seen the New Year in with a glass of sherry and the fabulous fireworks from the Thames (on TV), we woke to a light smattering of snow. Now that's what you might call unfair. Snow a week before Christmas, snow a week after Christmas, but on Christmas... Sign in to see full entry.

Further updates

I've heard more about that terrible hit-and run. Nigel the curate is dealing with it brilliantly, and the family are coping astonishingly well. Nigel was on local TV last evening and was fantastic. He said that the family are not blaming anyone and bear no grudge against the hit-and-run driver. In... Sign in to see full entry.

A great Christmas, but some sad news

We had a lovely Christmas with Al and Bx who stayed the night. Yesterday the four of us ventured into Norwich (yes, crazy, I know. The roads were heaving, what with the start of the sales and Norwich City playing at home - they won) to the pictures - sorry, cinema. Showing my age again. We went to... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy Christmas!

I received this email from a friend - one of those that circulate around the internet, so you may well have already had it. But if not, enjoy! God.com Every single evening As I'm lying here in bed, This tiny little Prayer Keeps running through my head: God bless all my family Wherever they may be,... Sign in to see full entry.

Fun at church

Paul our rector popped in on Saturday, so I suggested that I took the service at the smaller church and he took the service at the larger church - he lives within walking distance of that one. He thought that was a good idea since it saved two cars sliding and skidding up the narrow county hill. I... Sign in to see full entry.

We have snow!

Well, not a lot by your standards, but a creditable three inches or so. Enough for the first ten minutes of the news, and enough to cause complete chaos on the roads, close factories and schools and leave people stranded in the Channel Tunnel for eight hours, as they returned from Euro-Disney with... Carol singing

Had two lots of carol singing yesterday with the choir. In the morning we went to a day centre for people with learning difficulties, which really made me thankful for all Ed and I have in life. The carers were wonderful, with endless patience, and some relatives came as well to listen. What a... Sign in to see full entry.

Such a long time...

I can't believe how long it is since I last blogged - and I know the road to hell is paved with good intentions! So much seems to happen on the run up to Christmas. That's my excuse, anyway. We had our choir Christmas concert on Saturday, the first one I've sung in. That was great, I thoroughly... Sign in to see full entry.

Back to church

Had my first day back in harness, so to speak, at my new parish. Having sat in the pews for three months, I felt the time had come to start work again, so today was the day. Ed and I drove to the first, smaller parish for the nine-thirty service, which I led and the rector preached. Folk were very... Sign in to see full entry.

Exercise!

Ed and I played golf today. Not together; he played with the men and I played with the ladies, a couple of hours later. The really great news is that Ed managed all eighteen holes on foot - the first time for six months. The course is so wet that there's a ban on buggies, so it was a choice between...
