I'M STILL TRYING

I just searched google to see if perhaps there may in fact be some place or other that I could find some sort of tool to aid me in my endevours to crochet and knit. As most of you who read me know by now(or, perhaps you don't? One should never make assumptions!) I have difficulties with the hooks... Sign in to see full entry.

SHOULD I DO IT?

I'm trying very hard to study my Russian, though it's still very slow in catching on. I've discovered a new language company that offers courses in languages I already know and some I don't. I'm think of ordering a couple of courses through them today. Russian will be the first course, obviously but... Sign in to see full entry.

THE GESTAPO IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!...I'VE GOT A CASE OF ITCHY FINGERS!

My back is at it again. Not as bad as it usually is though. Thank goodness for that! It has already started snowing here and I suspect that by the time it all ends at whatever time on Thursday, we shall be well and buried in it! So, I'm sad to report once more that the Gestapo is driving me crazy!... Sign in to see full entry.

STILL COLD...WATER IS BETTER

Margaret has gone to the grocery, but will be back soon. I'm not sending her out tomorrow or Thursday because the weather is supposed to be very bad. We'll stay here with the pets and keep as warm as possible. I'm just praying with all my might we don't lose power during the storm tomorrow. I... Sign in to see full entry.

COLD WEATHER EQUALS COLD WATER! YES, IM STILL HERE

I did manage a shower today. Well, actaully a sponge bath, really. The weather here is so bleeding cold that there wasn't really time for much else and my hair didn't get washed today either! Oh, well. It doesn't feel too grubby and anyway, I can always wash it twice tomorrow to make sure it's good... Sign in to see full entry.

TEARS FOR THIS STRANGER

It is still dark when I wake. I can hear Babi and Dmitri talking softly in the front room. VYKTOR! I hurry out of the bedroom to join them. Babi is thoroughly inspecting the gash in his side, the broken ribs. I sit beside him, watching her. “Is he all right Babi? He looks so pale!” I brush his... Sign in to see full entry.

WAITING TO CHAT JULIET...SNOW IS FALLING...TIME TO SHOP!

Margaret and I have just finished a nice lunch. We decided on egg and cheese sandwiches topped with Canadian ham and a few maple sausages. Oh, and then there was the orange juice. Yum! Eating breakfast for lunch is one of our favourite things to do. Sigh. It's snowing again. Actually, it has been on... Sign in to see full entry.

SLEEPY SUNDAY

Today is going to be a very laid back day for the two of us. We slept in late again this morning and thankfully, it seems to have helped. Though we're both still a bit tired. We're expecting more snow over the next few days, which doesn't help that situation any. I seem to have so much less energy... Sign in to see full entry.

WHO IS THE MAN IN MY BED?

Dmitri’s words leave a hole in my heart. What does he mean? I do not know, and I do not ask. I am too weary for questions now. It has been a long night, and it has only just begun. Babi sent Dmitri to sleep in the back room. We will take shifts watching over Vyktor, the three of us, until he wakes.... Sign in to see full entry.

A PLEASANTLY SURPRISING SATURDAY

Margaret and I got a surprise this moring. Just after 9:30, my brother knocked at the door. He brought his twins, my niece and nephew over to visit with their auntie! I had just gotten up, and poor Margaret was still in bed, but I'm so happy they stopped by. They are very bright, polite, well... Sign in to see full entry.

DMITRI'S DARK REVALATION

Hours have passed in long and dreadful silence. Dmitri has not returned. Where is he? Has he taken Lalka away? With every sound, our hearts pound inside our bodies. We dare not speak, even in a whisper…for if someone should hear… Apart from Olga and Yakov, I have only one neighbour. His house is... Sign in to see full entry.

A REVISIT TO THE HOUSE MOST EMPTY

I've just been reading through this, and already I have tears flooding my eyes. Here is a re-post of the beginning of the shorter version of Ben's story...more will be added very soon... A HOUSE MOST EMPTY I arrived late in the morning. Eleven thirty, to be exact. It was raining when my plane... Sign in to see full entry.

A STORY FOR BEN

Uncle Ben just popped into my mind again...all of the sudden, actually. His boys must be young men now! And just as handsome and kind as their papa, I've no doubt! I'm so mad at myself for not staying in touch with them after that first letter so long ago. I think of them every single day and they... Sign in to see full entry.

A BIT MORE OF AVINGNON FOR GRANDMUMMY KABU

“No, Meme. Please don’t. I am doing very well. It could have been much worse for me, but it wasn’t. Don’t cry.” She smiles at me. “No, ma petite…you don’t understand! I don’t cry from sadness for you. I only wish my husband could know you. He would have loved you so!” Again, she speaks of him with... Sign in to see full entry.

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO GET TO SESAME STREET?

I was just going through my email and I got a notification from one of my book clubs saying they were having a clearance sale. Against my better judgment, I decided to go have a look round to see if there may be any new books either Margaret or I, or both of us, might enjoy reading. Sure enough,... ONE LAST RE-POST...FREEDOM'S WHISPER

FREEDOM’S WHISPER It’s late morning in early May. I’ve come back to Amsterdam for a second time and I’m even more humbled by it than the first time I visited. At first I didn’t understand what prompted me to return. But I soon will. I was awakened in my hotel room this morning by the joyful call of... Sign in to see full entry.

A RE-POST FOR KABU...HELLO MY FRIEND

Note: Today would have been Anne Frank’s seventy-seventh birthday. I first read her diary when I was about thirteen years old, the same age as Anne herself when she was forced to flee Adolf Hitler’s obscene racial policies and go into hiding. I never knew Anne personally, but since reading her diary... Sign in to see full entry.

FORGOTTEN CHILDREN...A RE-POST

FORGOTTEN CHILDREN Forgotten children The ones we lost What are your names? Tell me, please What were the games You liked to play? Did you like going to school? Were you able to? The fields long ago silenced you And so the world was allowed To forget But not me Never me You see, I was born as one of... Sign in to see full entry.

IN MEMORY OF THE SILENCED AND FORGOTTEN...A RE-POST OF MY HADAMAR DREAM

Note: Germany is not a place I’ve ever wanted or even expected to visit. I have my reasons for this, which you will soon discover as you read. I believe God sent me this dream for a reason, and although parts of it were very sad for me, I’m grateful for what was shown to me. HADAMAR, GERMANY A windy... Sign in to see full entry.

A BIT OF NAUGHTINESS TO EASE THE PAIN

I'm off to have a shower in a few minutes. Poor Margaret is off to see my orthopedic surgeon in the morning for her knee. I told her not to let him give her any bull. He knows better than to do this with me...I've told him where to go and how to get there on more than one ocassion! Please, would you... Sign in to see full entry.
