History teaches us nothing.

Why is it, that after two world wars, we have learned nothing? On an island built on coal in a sea surrounded by oil and gas. we are worse off now than in the last 100 years. It's almost as if our memories have been wiped clean. Even wood for logs is in short supply now. And we are better off than most. Steve. Sign in to see full entry.

Money worries

Just had the bad news that our rent is to go up. We wonder how much longer we can go on living here. There are places all around much cheaper, but we have to stay in the area for several reasons. Big dilemma, but we can hang on at least until Christmas. Hope the business account picks up and I get my money back on bitcoin. Sign in to see full entry.

Horse Trials

Yesterday Mum and I went to the Burghley Horse Trials in Stamford. I'm not very horsey, but Mum is. It was the first large event we have attended since the pandemic, and it was so strange to see so many people. People as far as the eye could see. Hope things are getting back to normal. I'm Back!

Just had a tax rebate so I can carry on for at least another year. I missed making entries here, as it's the only new writing I do. As for us, little has changed. We do face another threat from the Landlords Strutt & Parker as they want to raise the rent. Which we can't afford. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Big Hello to anyone who reads this post. Steve. Sign in to see full entry.

Hot Hot Hot!

Hot Hot Hot! We have a mini-heatwave at the moment, and we certainly are not ready for it. In the East Midland of England we are more used to rain and cloud, so hot days nock us for 6. The garden is already looking parched and we are getting used to filling the watering cans again. But the crops are coming on well. What with the rise in bread prices, that will be welcome. It turns out now that there is plenty of wheat in Ukraine, it's just that the Russian navy won't let it leave the port of... Sign in to see full entry.

Horoscopes

I follow 2 or 3 tarot readers on U-tube, but I tend to fall in and out of love with them. To be honest, I only listen to what I want to, and anything I don't like the sound of, I dismiss it. They are supposed to be warnings in all readings, but what I want is happy good news about how much money I'm about to win. So anything telling me the truth does not suit me. I have paid for a couple of professional readings for myself over the years. They were about right, but I'm such a sucker for a good... Sign in to see full entry.

Gas prices!

One of the reasons petrol is so expensive is that this is one of the few ways the government can get any revenue. We owe Trillions in debt and can't pay it back. But that dept in turn goes to pay pension funds. Sadly most of it is banked off-shore. Just watched The Spiders Web on Netflix. Sign in to see full entry.

Running up that Hill I'm pleased to see that the Kate Bush song: Running up that hill is back on the charts. It's all due to Stranger Things on Netflix. I love the idea that the girl used the song to get herself out of that hell. I brought the Album back in the 1980s and it had a big effect on me. Last of the concept albums. £2 a Litre.

Fuel is so expensive now, it's changing our whole world. When I was a kid if you did not have a car you got on the bus. But it's almost as if that is a swear word now. Once the recession kicks in, fuel will drop in price, as no one will be going anywhere. Most of our fuel price goes into direct taxation and VAT in the UK. In a litre of petrol, it's something like 20p for the actual price of the fuel. I don't know what gas is in the US, but I wonder what people think about electric cars? There...
