In defence of Blogit

In defence of Blogit. Great idea, I wish I had thought of it. Anyone who puts pen to paper is a writer. Anyone who makes a statement wants to be read. Anyone who dreams of being published will make an attempt to be recognized. Blogit provides that path and is succeeding as a business or profitable adventure. In response to Dave on Community Help, Writers receive pennies and Blogit gets the bucks. That's the way business works. Produce an affordable product and the consumer will enhance your bank account. That's just the way it is! Since I'm new to Blogit and still not sure how it works, I can only assume. Personally, I don't like to assume anything, I simply want to know. Have I made the right decision or is my effort a waste of time? As an unpublished writer, I guess the term starting at the bottom refers to Blogit as my starting point. But as I climb the proverbial ladder as the numbers increase thanks to the readers reading my work. Will the outcome be my reward or will Blogit attain greater success due to my effort or the efforts of others? I'm not sure if Blogit is the path that will fulfill my desire but at this time, it's the only choice I have. When I became a member a short time ago, I may have had a thought of profiting from this experience. But that though only brings a smile to my face when I look at Member Profiles and earnings to date. My remark is not an insult to Blogit. They presented the terms and I became a member. Now that I'm here, my focus is not to watch the numbers grow, but to gain information. I was surprised to receive a comment from someone in Ohio a few states away from me. I didn't know Blogit covered that distance. I thought it was local. Then I was shocked to get comments from India, Australia, Great Britain and all over the world. WOW! Blogit has now opened a door that I have been searching for along time. Intelligent conversation with people seeking the same goal. Somewhere out there someone possesses information to help fellow writers increase their potential quicker. Knowledge is the path to success. Writers advising writers to sources such as Publishers, Agents or the gem, a published author that sees your potential. Discouragement is a writers dilemma and after fifteen years of writing I now have to reevaluate my dream and surrender to common sense

The Boomerang Effect

I keep posting comments but they keep coming back to ME.  Whatgives?

I HATE talking to myself.

Jackie, before you go to the bar again, how about some cash prizes?

Just small ones. To encourage bloggers to produce some decent writing. Not sure how rich Mr & Mrs Blogit are at the moment, but when a blogger returned from 18 months away yesterday, I wondered what happened to their 50% of subscription if they hadn't been reading anyone for all those months. That must be a nice little stash that Mr & Mrs B could get out from under the bed.

Here's the idea: You could pay a non-blogit established writer of your choice to judge a competition of, say, poetry or stories or real life anecdotes or religious essays - whatever. Blogit pays them a small fee as judge and then pays a small fee to the winner of the competition. Writers new and old would have a chance to earn more than their usual pennies. New Writers might stay longer.

I know Mr & Mrs Blogit aren't Bill Gates ( I don't think) but maybe you could talk them round over a few pints down the pub one night.

Tara.

That carousel thingy on the Home Page

On the carousel thingy on the Home Page, where you get lists of New Writers, etc, I would like to be able to scroll through the options. I like the fact that it changes, but sometimes I want to look for New Writers, for instance, and my only method is to keep refreshing the home page until that list appears.

So, can we have it changing as it does already, but with the option to go back or forward through the options.

Tara. Hope Mr & Mrs Blogit are well.

Size of blog/story

This is actually a 2-part question. First, I'm a new writer and have several short stories that I would like read. Is there a limit on the size of the blog written? Next question- Does anyone know of any publishers that take unsolicited short stories that are not the length of an average book?  I like to write stories but have no place to send them.  HELP!!

I have tried to copy and past the referral html in my emails so I can send it some of my friends, but the button does not appear, it is just the html. Am I missing something?

Why are blocked bloggers still able to read our posts?

A few bloggers are thinking of leaving because their privacy is violated by someone in their "real" life. Blocking them is not enough because although the blocked blogger can't comment, they can still read everything. On your next round of improvements, please consider adding an extra part to the blocking that makes it impossible for a blocked blogger to read the posts of those who block them. thanks.

New writer needs advice

I put the same story on 3 different blogs--on writing, journal & non fiction figuring people might only read certain blogs. Was that the right thing to do or should I have different stories on different blogs? Also if I delete a blog or two to make a change will I loose the credit for people who already read those blogs or would the credit automatically go to the main blog left?
