great news from the home state

Today's a proud and happy day in my home state of Tasmania. The television has been filled with the image of two miners walking out from the mine where they had been trapped for two weeks. It's been a story of survival deep below the surface and the determination of workers to set them free. Sign in to see full entry.

haircut in a strange psychic realm

I decided to have a haircut around lunchtime today and so began a strange adventure of Freudian proportions. You see there's a barber shop beside the coffee shop where I get my morning coffee. I've passed it many a time and noted the strange paraphenalia in the windows: strange old posters and... Sign in to see full entry.

to hell with job applications, let me eat fig

My boss is retiring at the end of this week. I've endeavoured to use the change as a springboard for moving on myself but so far no luck. I didn't even get an interview for the Human Rights job. The experience has brought home to me the period when I was looking for work after I left the monastery.... Sign in to see full entry.

consoling parkland

It doesn't take much to make me happy. Four days off work is just right for putting a smile on my face. Today there was a slight chill in the air and I wandered through Centennial Park and met a mate to go to the football. In the park people were riding horses, cycling and rollerblading. I love that... a trip back to Melbourne

I've just arrived back from Melbourne. I knew I was back in Sydney. The train was late, the bus didn't arrive, the air was filled with the psychopathic horn blowing of Sydney drivers and the push and shove of pedestrians was never ending. It's been a few years since I've spent time in Melbourne and... Sign in to see full entry.

camel wanted

I've been thinking about buying a camel. Don't ruin the moment by asking why! Haven't you learnt to just play along with the madness! I've looked for Australian websites involving buying camels (and since there's half a million wild camels running around in the desolate centre of this wide brown... Sign in to see full entry.

time, therapy and the significance of water closets

The dreams have continued and have included a smorgasbord of people from any and every period of my life colliding and manipulating, cajoling and carousing, meddling and messing with my mind. The dreams have not been as much fun as I just made them sound. Is it something that I've been eating? Is it... Sign in to see full entry.

my nocturnal marsupial dilemma

Last night I had the most bizarre of all dreams. I was with my father and I saw a baby platypus. I bent down to look at it and it jumped up and clung to my head. Initially I thought it was kind of funny. Afterall the platypus on my head resembled a cap but my father, who I thought would be equally... Sign in to see full entry.

me and the strange muttering woman

I started off this morning in the usual way: reading the paper and eating breakfast in the hospital lounge. As usually happens, the strange muttering woman came and sat on the other side of the room, ripping through the pages of her newspaper like a cyclone. I sent in my application for the Human...
