Writing contest quandry...

My 13 year old wants to enter a library sponsored national writing contest. 50,000 words in one month. She is loaded down with homework every night. She is in 8th grade. She is an incredible creative writer, as well as a worried anxiety ridden teen. I'm thinking of letting her enter if she writes... Sign in to see full entry.

All those layers

I'm not much of a gardener. I REALLY enjoy a well maintained garden/yard, lets just say I'd rather look across and enjoy YOUR yard, than work to figure out mine. Years ago I planted tulips. Spring is my favorite garden season, because the tulips have come up every year and multiplied. They are so... Sign in to see full entry.

Little pieces...tiny memories..a touch of tears

Why is it, every time I clean out my kids pockets, it makes my heart ache. Today it happened as I was going through the hand me downs I am ready to give a friend. In the small chest pocket of the cute pink winter coat, rare item from the Gap, I pulled a few items from their long forgotten resting... Sign in to see full entry.

The power from power tools

I know it seems like an oxymoron, but I can't help it! Yesterday was an incredible summer turning into fall perfect day. Our town was just buzzing with folks cleaning up their yards and trimming branches for the last branch pick up of the season. We have six trees on our property and took advantage... Intention ~ A high level of focus creates miracles

This is a writing prompt I pulled tonight. There really are no mistakes in life. I desperately need to start to take care of myself by working out and eating well. The level of self loathing I feel around my weight should be against the law. I guess if you really look at that from a higher... Sign in to see full entry.

Falling for the new line...

....of TV shows this season! I really liked Flash Forward. I'm not much of a Sci-Fi gal but I really like the pilot. I also love that my husband watched with me, and it looks like he'll watch again! We lost our other show Boston Legal when it went off the air, so this is good to have something... Sign in to see full entry.

La La La... So giddy!

I just bought tickets for Colbie Caillat concert in Chicago! I saw her last year at the Park West. At that time I took all of my nieces and my sister, this time, it will be just me and Carly. I'm going to wait and surprise her with the tickets in a couple weeks. I may be traveling to MN the day... Sign in to see full entry.

What goes around...

I guess because I am the youngest sister, I have a soft spot for youngest children. It absolutely rubs me the wrong way when my oldest is unkind to her youngest sister. The choices she makes, the actions she takes, the words she chooses are all those I don't see myself ever using when I was 16. I... Sign in to see full entry.

The art of being together

I had a lovely weekend with my middle daughter who stayed home with me when the rest of the family headed to the lake house. We had big plans to attend the Naperville Riverwalk Art Fair that we so love to do together. We went Saturday (beautiful weather) and Sunday (cloudy but nice) and really took... How do you say goodbye to a sibling?

My friend Barb lost her sister last week. After a valiant battle with cancer Karen slipped into a place we all hope is as beautiful as she was in this life. From the many notes I read on the Caring Bridge page set up to keep folks informed about her condition, countless people poured an abundance of... Sign in to see full entry.
