11/24/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

Penny's Thanksgiving feast was absolutely delicious. I think I had too much turkey; soon after eating, I found myself all too eager to fall asleep on the couch. For once, Ali didn't overeat or otherwise act as she did when we went to Taste of Chicago in June. I was so proud of her. Now, it's on to... Sign in to see full entry.

11/23/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

This is just a brief entry before I head off to Penny's house through the Tunnel system. I look forward to a delicious feast of turkey with all the trimmings. As I write, my humans are watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, held in New York every year. The company which owns Macy's - Federated... Sign in to see full entry.

11/22/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

My human is frustrated, and I can't blame her. Nobody has been by to fix the smoke detector, or even tell her what is wrong with it that she and my male human can fix. In the meantime, they're still freezing - things have stayed stable. Just try and get someone official to fix this problem on a... Sign in to see full entry.

11/21/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

My human feels much better today. She let a village official know about the errant smoke alarm, and the appropriate official promised to talk to building management about it on our behalf. If I didn't think I would be an overstuffed feline nurse before, I'm certain I will be now. Another village... Sign in to see full entry.

11/20/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

My human is freezing. She's scared. I'm afraid, too. She cannot even turn on the heater without setting off the smoke alarm. She has two choices - turn on the heater and put up with the noise of the smoke alarm, or keep the heater off and potentially freeze to death. I don't know what to do as her... 11/19/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

I think I mentiioned yesterday that my human had blood work done. It must have turned out all right, as no doctors called her on an emergency basis. Last year at this time, my human went missing on me after just such a phone call, and she was worried it might happen again. For that matter, I was... Sign in to see full entry.

11/18/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

My human is going to have some blood work done today. I'm somewhat ambivalent about this, as I do not want to see the results of this blood work prove to the doctors that she needs to go missing, yet I do want her to receive regular medical monitoring. I do love my humans very much. I knew that... Sign in to see full entry.

11/17/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

I continue to worry about my human. She is rapidly heading toward the same state which led her to go missing on me two years ago, starting a round of "gone-missing" times which have not abated. This is the longest period she's stayed at home in years. I love her very much, and I don't want her to go... Sign in to see full entry.

11/16/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

I went grocery shopping with Penny for Thanksgiving today. The only items we didn't pick up were the perishable ones; we will pick at least some of those items up over this coming weekend, particularly the turkey (which needs to defrost for several days before Penny puts it in the oven to roast).... 11/15/2006 Nurse Garfield's Field Notes

I am worried about my human this fine morning, the first time in days that I have been so worried. It isn't her cold symptoms that have me worried; the cold finally seems to be abating, much to the relief of both of us, and she is experiencing just a few symptoms in her sinuses. She and I are both... Sign in to see full entry.
