Oops! He was Wrong!

I found this is our newspaper. Random Kinds of Factness -- Erin barrett and Jack Mingo For your list of bad business predictions, add this one: "I think there is a world market for about five computers." Thomas J. Watson, founder of IBM, 1943 I think he miscalculated the response to his product. Sign in to see full entry.

Something to Ponder

I found the quote and thought it worthwhile to share. "The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." Soren Kierkegaard Sign in to see full entry.

What a Surprise!

We are in the middle of a recession. I am well aware of that. We have people in our congregation who have lost their jobs and health care. It is a difficult time. However, while the economy isn't very good, the generosity of people was overwhelming this weekend. The St. Jude Midwest held another... Sign in to see full entry.

An Old Dog Can Learn New Tricks

The last post was frustrating. I couldn't transfer music to my mp3 player (I'm too cheap to buy an IPod). Determined woman would aptly describe me. I finally figured it out. I'm now in the process of doing all the transfers. I guess the old adage about not being able to train an old dog isn't true.... Sign in to see full entry.

It always bites back!

I started to write on this blog this morning about my husband being technologically challenged. Well, I have spent almost the entire morning trying to load music to his new mp3 player. I must be as technologically challenged as he. I haven't gotten it and I've done it before. So I'm frustrated. Sign in to see full entry.

Forgive? Why should I?

Bitterness can eat one up from the inside out. I have a friend who had a terrible falling out with her mother-in-law. And the divorce was only part of the problem. The mother-in-law is now quite ill. My friend decided it was time to forgive the woman who had caused so much tension within the family.... Sign in to see full entry.

David and King Saul

I remember reading in the scriptures that King Saul would call David to play his harp which would calm Saul. I can understand that. I am currently playing classical (yes, classical) music on the television. Heavens, I couldn't play classical music if my life depended upon it. However, as I have... Sign in to see full entry.

Friends are Friends Forever

I think it is Michael W. Smith who sings a song with the above title. I love the song. Funny, the older I get, the more appreciate my friends. When I go home (hometown) to visit, I almost always call my high school girlfriend. When we talk, it's as if we've pick up where we were when we last saw... Sign in to see full entry.

I must be old

Okay, in my 20s I thought I would have a crisis when I turned 50. Why? Because not only would I be turning 50, but it was the beginning of a new millenium (2000). It didn't phase me in the least. However, I KNOW I'm old now. I went to a funeral today and the clothing attire was less than desirable... Sign in to see full entry.

Outside the safety box

It is difficult doing the right thing and sometimes it is incredibly frightening. It is one thing to stand in the pulpit and encourage others to speak up for justice, but to "live out" the same admonition is a real challenge. In the previous post I mentioned an injustice I felt was being done. It is... Sign in to see full entry.
