Can You Help?

During the 1990s Liberia experienced a civil war that would last nearly 14 years. An entire generation of young people have had little or no education. The Illinois Great Rivers Conference, in partnership with the Liberian Conference of The United Methodist Church, is trying to help rebuild school,... Sign in to see full entry.

Does Death Really Come in Threes?

One would think after being in the ordained ministry for fifteen years some things would get easier. NOT! I mentioned in a previous post that a young lady whose wedding I conducted had been killed in a vehicular accident. I was under the assumption that the other pastor here would be doing her... Life's Uncertain

Nearly five years ago I officiated at a wedding. Beautiful young lady. I've seen her in church several times. She always sat with her grandparents. She lost her life in a car accident very early this morning. He husband's condition is "touch and go." My heart aches for the family. Please pray for... Sign in to see full entry.

What does it mean?

Question posed at a recent clergy meeting? When Jesus says, "I have come to seek and save the lost?" what did he mean by "lost." How do you define "lost" in the spiritual sense? Second question: What does evangelism mean to you? How do you do evangelism? Thanks for your comments. Sign in to see full entry.

I'm Back

Yes, I realize I haven't written anything since October, 2009. Wish I could say I've had good reasons, but alas, I haven't. The season did get busy at our church, but that isn't reason enough. I could use the excuse that I had foot surgery, but that doesn't effect the mind or the fingers. I could... Sign in to see full entry.

Can Take a Deep Breath Now

I can now take a deep breath and "rest". The personal assessment is done and turned in and the yearly consultation is over. Given I now have a new "supervisor" I think it went okay. Hopefully I'll be able to remain in this position I now have. However, there are some challenges that we face and... Sign in to see full entry.

Imagine

I'm still amazed to think that $10 can save a life. Malaria is the number killer of children (especiallly children) in Africa. Ten dollars can give a child a mosquito net treated with insecticide preventing the spread of malaria. As you think about Christmas this year, think about a life that can be... It's Done!

Right or wrong, the assessment is done. I've emailed it to the office. My appointment for next year probably hangs on that assessment. I don't want to move. But, it is done and turned in one working day before it is due. Thanks for your support. Sign in to see full entry.

Personal Assessment

This dreaded assignment is due Monday morning. I am on the downward side. I put it off as long as possible - working on it only occasionally. Why is it I work better under pressure! Hopefully when I'm done with this, I can be more intentional posting. Take care and God bless you all. Sign in to see full entry.

Five murdered in small town

Horror struck a small town in central Illinois. Beason residents this afternoon learned of the murder of five of its citizens. Beason has a population of about 200 people. A three-year-old girl survived. Apparently a suspect is being sought, but a motive for the murder is unknown. As one might... Sign in to see full entry.
