(BWC) post 65 THE HERETICS Nosy Columbina!

ch 14 Father Domenico (cont) I stopped at the threshold. There, seated on my own hard bed, was Columbina. The telltale candle was by her on the pallet, as both her hands were occupied with my letter. The Letter. The one addressed to the Pope. The one with the broken seal. She looked up as if totally... Sign in to see full entry.

"Write what you know": historical fiction

I love a good solid historical novel! I love to be transported to other times, other worlds, to get emotionally engaged, and at the same time be learning something for real about how we have come to be where we are now, in the world we're in. But a writer can't just slap some costumes onto stock... Sign in to see full entry.

BWC - writer and reader guidelines

The spirit of this enterprise is to encourage and give substantial feedback to writers who want to be published sooner or later. We're here in a somewhat kinder atmosphere than the real world of publishing. Kinder, but we need it to still be frank and useful. It isn't about clicks or popularity or... BWC Post your links here!

Blogit Writers' Club participants: You can post a link in comments here, and I will edit it to this front page so it will be easier for us to find each other. The link should be to the first page of your piece... but I explained all that in the post before this... The Blogit Cafe is also a good... Sign in to see full entry.

Blogit Writers' Club

(How long since you've been propositioned?) Here's what I have in mind: When you write something for which you want serious feedback, and can take it on the chin if you don't like what you hear, put a note in the headline: BWC and say a few words in the intro to your post about what sort of feedback... Writing horror

Each of them seemed to have the same idea of what comprises 'horror.' Mostly, it meant a lot of blood and gore, a lot of violence,... Sign in to see full entry.

So... Who speaks Italian? Doing foreign vocabulary right

I don't, not beyond getting about a bit as a tourist. When do you use 'de' vs 'degli' vs 'dei' and are these all forms of 'of' or 'of the'? I've been reading a fine historic novel called THE DUCHESS OF MILAN which is liberally salted with Italian rudenessess, too--and some of them would be right at... Sign in to see full entry.

post 54 - THE HERETICS - memories and clarifications

ch 13 the Book (cont) "What are you sitting there for? Admiring the view? Get on, you silly, noodle-minded, misbegotten, corrupted spawn of Lilith! Get up!" She waved back at me in a friendly fashion. Obviously, she couldn’t hear what I was after saying to her.. But at least she was moving again. I... Sign in to see full entry.

Writing around personal bias

MedicineFlower wrote a piece today-- http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/MedicineFlower1372/ --on the necessity of separating out personal bias and agenda from the writing of a novel. It got me thinking... This is not at all rebuttal of MedicineFlower's point, but heads off in a somewhat other... Sign in to see full entry.
