What does the Day After Christmas mean to you?

Is it Boxing Day, where you live? What does that--Boxing Day--mean to you? I've heard it's the day in old England when servants of a household were given clay boxes with gifts inside, usually money. Like a piggy bank, you had to break it to get at the contents. I've heard it's the day you put out... Sign in to see full entry.

What do you see in the holiday lights?

Do you see the miracle of the Hebrews in the flames of Hannukah? Do you see the brilliant stars in the snowy evergreen woods that amazed Martin Luther on a Christmas night? I remember, we drove slowly through night-time neighborhoods; sitting in the back seat of Grandma's pink Lincoln, I was 4 or 5,... Sign in to see full entry.

Waffles with butter and pecans and maple syrup... Exploded eggs omelets... (described these in the Ciel Show a few posts back) Cold pizza --or other left-overs from the dinner before... The serialized novel

I'm thinking of offering my long-neglected novel in serial form, through a publisher that features serialized on-line material. Anyone have any experience with this? It is pointed out in several articles that not all novels are suitable for breaking into episodes. I have to take another look at... Sign in to see full entry.

At least, the leaves are long and hang from upright stems, and this one is in a hanging pot. It was limp from lack of regular watering, and so I got a good deal on it.... Sign in to see full entry.

Prompt: Hats

CC noticed a hat in one of my pictures, so I have posted a few more views of my hat rack. I collect hats for costume use, and I make hats, and sometimes there's just a hat I really like. For years, I didn't wear hats, thinking I looked silly in them. In fact, I hear that a lot. I started to heal... Sign in to see full entry.

New Words

Have you heard, or made any new words lately? My favorite new one is the uncalled-for but irresistable bit of snippiness and superiority: snarkasm. And older one I still find use for, refers to the detritus in the street remaining after a collision: accidue. It's true that some made-up words simply... Sign in to see full entry.
