Absolutely I remember. It paid the rent and gave me three dollars all for myself...after working two nights a week at an all night truck stop...and I mean two nights...all night..7..pm until 5.00am.

I remember my first paycheck, and yeah, it was not as big as I expected it to be.

Yes, I remember my first paycheck. I, too, was surprised by the
deductions. What 17-year-old kid imagines herself as a taxpayer, and most folks don't have "the talk" with their kids about deductions. Of course my first check was long ago and a month's entire salary would be less than $200.
