Spring sorting...

I spent several hours yesterday over in Flickr, sorting out my albums, especially since I realized that a lot of images that should be in albums, are not. I'm only about halfway through all of them, and some collections that you may have seen recently, like the Gardens and Flowers, keep growing like it's summertime! Oh, my back is gonna ACHE...!

I have mentioned the spring migration... It continued today with considerable lifting, shifting, and shoving, re-shaping of rooms... It's amazing how a change of just a few inches makes great openings for other things! Charlie will be over when he is ready to sort out why the tv won't go on now. I have checked connections, batteries in the remote, done the off/on thing, and nothing has worked so far. Evening report

The wind is up tonight, and Embers is cuddling warm beside me. The parakeets have retired for the night, the fish tank babbles like the woodland brook. I cleaned the birdcage around 7am yesterday, and one of the 'keets got out. The cage has a couple of big doors, no other way to get into it, but usually they fluster over to the other side. I closed Embers into the bedroom and got out the bird net--much like a butterfly net--and looked around at all the high places... and nearly stepped on him,... Sign in to see full entry.

It helps to ask...

This week a new thing happened. For me, that is... luckily it isn't the first time ever, or no one could have wised me up about it. As it turns out, my friend from high school who currently lives within a few miles of here--her grandmother had it, and she knew where to send me for information. This is what I've learned: It's called 'trigger finger.' It's a tendon thing affecting the long tendon that runs from arm to hand, down the ring finger. Sometimes English is confusing.

Saturday again, already? This brings up an editorial question that always hits me like bottoming out on a smooth road that has a sudden rough spot. It is mostly about reading, but can also come up in speech, through tonality/emphasis shifts. Already, always, alright... 'Already' has not quite the same meaning or usage as 'all ready.' Both work in their proper places. Likewise, 'always' and 'all ways.' I have trouble with 'alright' which is used as 'ok' but never looks right to me, though the... Sign in to see full entry.

Rock-a-bye Bird House...

Maybe you recall the little bird house I've had near 20 years now, that has hung on the deck above the driveway since I moved in here...? There was that one time, the second year of the doves, that some small birds actually occupied it! Finches maybe. Then while I was away last October, mighty winds such as we get here in Colorado Springs from time to time blew it off its hook and down to the windshield of the truck. Great day for the gardening!

It is lovely and warm, probably up into the low 80s F they say for the high today and tomorrow! Rains over the weekend... maybe big, thunderin' stuff, but hail won't hurt the dirt. The back porch is cleaned up and prepped for use, all the old pots and odd bits o' stuff cleaned up, and soil stirred. I am making some fertilizing agents: coffee grounds, powdered egg shell, and kitchen compost stuff.
