While I was away for the holidays, I made arrangements for Davy Dog to hang out with other canines in a fine and friendly environment, and for the lady who manages it in her home to come by here daily to be sure the cats were well, fed and watered. How surprised she was to discover that someone was in the house, using it, making himself quite at home. Yes, Guitar Guy, my homeless friend... who distinctly did not have an invitation to do this. He was over for Christmas Eve--a gift to him, to... Sign in to see full entry.

More music to start the year
My 2010 got its proper start on Sunday Jan 3. First, I had two movies to watch--the ones I rented just before leaving for Christmas, didn't have time to sit down for, and forgot to return. The bill was gonna be hefty--but I was not taking them back until I watched them! There is much to be said in favor of laptops and watching movies in bed. So--started with Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within which was in fact very entertaining, though anime is not my most favorite genre. (This was not stereotypic... Sign in to see full entry.

The Last Day of the Year
What did you do to finish off 2009? I got licked by a giraffe... Charlie got head-butted by another giraffe. Just think, we nearly got through the year with neither of those experiences! How sad would that have been, to have missed them? And what will the first thing be, that you do in 2010? It's said, after all, that whatever you are doing, it will set the tone for the whole year. I can think of a couple of things, and the likeliest is that I will be writing when the year turns, or working with... Sign in to see full entry.

Transitions: new books; new outlooks considering Eros
It has been pretty chilly in Colorado this week, and we don't have a car to get around, so son Charlie and I have been limited in our getting about. However, one of his friends drove us out to Garden of the Gods on Sunday. The photos you may have noticed are accessible through a flickr link posted in the Adventuring blog. Today I took the best of them and put them into a new mypublisher book. It is unsurprisingly titled: Garden of the Gods. If you would like to see it, their system asks me to... Where did all the time go...? life in review, life in projection
Suddenly it is over a week since I wrote anything here... and less than a week before Christmas... and in a few days everything will be ass over teakettle but hopefully in a good way, though the cats will be less than pleased that the Prime Heat Source has gone haring off again. With son Charlie in his first home outside the dorms, his housemates away for the holidays, he wants to spend them there... asked me to come visit. His dad already had his tickets for the east coast trip, to spend... Sign in to see full entry.

Roller coasters are supposed to be fun
Great day yesterday, a milestone accomplished in the old novel re-visioned... a friend--the only one who really could--collaborating, letting me paw around in his brain and senses... A friend chance-met looked at me from her own place of happiness and told me I was sparkling... She has known me many years, though we rarely meet, and knows how different this is. News from youngest, now 24 and half the continent away, will not be coming home to this home for Christmas. With his father--with whom... Sign in to see full entry.

Running hot and cold...
It may be cold here, but at least we have sunny days, short though they may be... A lot of you across the US are getting the great snow, and the arctic cold. Remember to fill the polar bear feeders with suet... lots and lots of suet! Meanwhile, the heart here is intermittently warm... Did I say 'heart'? I meant 'hearth'-- but 'heart' is true, too. Sometimes, after an age of low-grade, barely-sufficient fuel, the heart gets lucky, and taps into the good stuff. Sure, there is gunk in the pipes,... Sign in to see full entry.

Wind is from the north...
It blows through my open window... so do the cats, so it remains open. I also love to sleep with the freshest of air and a cold nose while all the rest of me is warm and cozy under sufficient covers. But this morning, it is making it a challenge--to cross the room from toasty bed to the door into the rest of the house which will be at least a modicum warmer. I bought bamboo thermals yesterday and will not be free of them until April, like a mountain-man, if this goes on... But they are rather... Sign in to see full entry.

Transitions
Thanks so much, all of you who have read here and commented! The photos in Starbuck's, yesterday's sale of a framed piece at the small gallery I've consigned a few things in, the array of remarkable and inspiring people I have been meeting lately... Oh, even stepping on the scale and discovering I'm 5 lbs under the plateau I've been stuck at for... let's just say quite some time... All this sparkling, tingling energy I feel-- It is not what has gotten me where I am, but what I am finding in that... Sign in to see full entry.
