Bare-foot Gal
When I was a child in Redding, California, I loved going barefoot all summer. The concrete sidewalks were smooth and hot, but not too hot. The black asphalt street--now, that was too hot, and if for any reason I needed to get to the other side, it was a dance across the stinging black surface, to reach concrete safety on the other side.
