Green Mansions
When I dreamed, in childhood, of living in a beautiful forest, surrounded by lush green mosses, elegant ferns, and tall trees, and little animals sharing their home with me, I didn't imagine it with long, rainy winters, or a freeway a mile or less through the woods. I never considered that small possums might make regular seasonal invasions of my house, or that I would find raccoons in my kitchen, dragging off bags of cat-food, or that I would ever be chasing a little squirrel leaping through...
