First Things First

An update from yesterday: I slept about fourteen hours last night, the longest I've been able to rest in over a month. A return visit to the ER found that my blood pressure has returned to its normal level (122/64 this morning), and while I still am having palpitations and arrhythmias, I'm not... About 9:45 this morning, I went over the the clinic to talk to my doctor there about the palpitations and arrhythmia's I was experiencing. I was sent to the ER. I had a very weak and thready pulse at 54, but my blood pressure was at 198/68. Normal for me as recent as December 10th was 128/62. I was... Sign in to see full entry.

The extended Yooper (UP'er) weather report: Cold for the next 120 days and a mountain of snow will fall and yet, life will go on. It was 3 above last night, on its way to 24. I love it here, but I often wish that I was back in Florida. I can take the heat far better than the cold. I'm not sure what... Sign in to see full entry.

"The House At 407" is beginning to mvoe along much faster in my mind now. I've got all of the incidental stuff in place, a few clues and warnings properly laid in, and now I am at the threshold of getting to the meat of the story. The soup has been eaten, and the waiter is bringing the main course.... Sign in to see full entry.

It's a nippy 14 degrees outside this morning, heading to a high of 16. I'll do my best to keep from going out to Lake Natalie and taking a dip. The much ballyhooed snow storm stayed just to the north of me. The last few blocks of town caught five inches or more, but we got nothing but a dusting. In... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm going to call it a year here. I am struggling a bit with the opening words to "The House at 407," but once I get it by the initial frame work, this thing will bust loose. I'm hoping to be over the intro hurdle tomorrow. It frustrates me to have to write from my notes vs when I get into the meat... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy New Year! Here Are My Resolutions

Some people make "New Year Resolutions" with the idea that by the middle of January, they are forgotten by everyone, including themselves. I used to do that myself, but since 2013, I've decided to make resolutions to keep. It's the day before 2019, so here we go. A) I put three major books out last... Sign in to see full entry.

As of right this moment, the snow is stay just to the north of me by about half a mile. The wind is playing fast and loose with everything, but here in my basement setting, I can hear it, but not feel it. Moving down here was the smartest thing I've done this fall! I have some errands to run this... Sign in to see full entry.

I Am Storm Ready

Since I made the post about the heavy snow and such, they still aren't sure of its probable path, but I've taken steps to ensure that the dogs and I are safe, no matter what happens. I've gone though and made sure that my flashlights are properly placed, that my cell phones are charged and that my... Sign in to see full entry.

Joy. We are going to have a winter storm warning starting soon. It may hit us or sweep just to the north of us. I am set either way. I have heat and hot water so I'm good. Sign in to see full entry.
